Anyone got this yet. Sounds like this could be good stuff, I am not partial to his pop stuff but this is what they say about the Album

"...Born and Raised is the fifth studio album by American musician John Mayer that was released on May 22, 2012. The first single "Shadow Days" was released February 27 on Mayer's blog. This album marks the return of John Mayer after a two year break from the public eye due to controversial remarks he made in Playboy and Rolling Stone interviews. Born and Raised marks yet another change in Mayer's musical style, and incorporates musical elements of folk and Americana which take influences from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, David Crosby and Graham Nash. Born and Raised has received generally positive reviews from most critics, some calling it "his best album to date"..."

I'm not fond of his pop stuff either. But the stuff with 'The John Meyer Trio' is amazing. HE knows his stuff.
I have had this CD on repeat in my car and I cannot get enough of it!

Yes, his stuff with the Trio is incredible but his song writing abilities are amazing. When you get a John Mayer CD you expect it to be dripping with guitar solos but it shows how much of a great guitarist he is, not to have solos all the time but to have the listener engaged right from the beginning by layering incredible musical parts.

One of my favourite albums of the year so far...

I fully agree. His albums are engaging, and not guitar heroish. He leaves that for live performances.

I'm looking forward to getting this one. I like it when musicians grow and try new things.
I got it the other day.

I quite like it. Lots of acoustic-based stuff this time around, has a very earthy Americana vibe to it all. You can tell he's been hanging out with Brad Paisley too much. ?

"Continuum" is still my favourite album, although there is the odd great track on "Room for Squares", "Heavier Things" and "Battle Studies". But "Born and Raised" is creeping up that ladder.

I like the fact that he tries to go in a slightly different direction with each album.

            I love the new CD!

I've been on a major Mayer vibe this whole year. I've suddenly started really digging his pop side. Continuum is also my favourite album, but the more I listen to Born and Raised the more it's growing on me... I love the more acoustic vibe. He's also penned some really lovely lyrics in my opinion.

It's sad that he won't be able to tour with this CD as I'd love to see him playing these live...
