  • Moody Blues, 10cc and Procol Harum ..... ??? Oh No!!!!

First The Eagles ....... now the Moody Blues, 10cc and Procol Harum ....... at least Paul and Ringo will not do this and call it "The Beatles' Farewell Concert"

Don't get me wrong, I liked these guys (yes, all, or most of them) when I was a kid, but geez, enough is enough...... or maybe I'm wrong, there are still fans in wheelchairs, false teeth, and thick specs going to see them for R3,000. Now I know I sound like a hypocrite cause I said I'd pay that to go see the Stones.....but hell, the Stones got better and better and better, and toured and have hardly changed personnel for decades ....... does Mick have a grey hair? NO!! ? and their shows are SPECTACULAR, not just a stage and a few colored strobes ..... a thousand times better than a lot of new bands today.

..... next is The Hollies ......OMG ......... I think I'm gonna go visit Daniel, the 7th, and get an education on Metal ....... ?

Hell I agree with a lot of what you are saying but not all of it.
A lot of this is about nostalgia.

I don't buy into that myself, but there's no point in pretending it's not there.

I don't mind the Moody Blues...provided they have a full orchestra with them on stage. Think they are still the same personel ?
BTW: I learnt Hammond 'cause of the Harum ? .

Depends on where you draw the line. Denny Laine, the best singer they ever had, left early on. The classic lineup revolved around John Lodge and Justin Hayward, and they're both still in the touring band now.

Never knew Hayward was n't there from starters..... However, it seems as if the current line-up has been together from about '66

Ray Thomas who IMHO wrote better songs than Hayward and Lodge has left the band, so they are one third of the creative force down.

Ray also sang and played flute. Here is one of my favourite Moody Blues songs - Legend of a mind

Note the difference in songwriting to Hayward and Lodge, a bit more creative and progressive

I would've broken the piggy bank to see all these bands 20 to 30 years ago. Now it's too late, I aint gonna. :sorry:
