cool article. most of the stuff i agree with. but "if your guitar sounds thin...use a high capacitance cable" is just plain silly. you'll lose signal level from the guitar before it hits your 1st pedal/amp. and then to get it back, you'll add more noise of a gainstage(whether it's digital/SS/tube) so no... if your guitar sounds thin... dont turn down the treble unless its got enough output. rather turn the treble down at the end (at the amp).
I DO AGREE with the stuff about our heroes never used all this state of the art tech to get their tone.

Paul White - always a good source of real info you can trust. However, while he goes into detail about the effects of capacitance on the high end (both as a high pass filter and from tuned circuit resonant frequency moving higher), it's what he doesn't say that is more telling. He completely skips any mention of any of the more esoteric claims from the more expensive cable manufacturers (solid vs. stranded core, directional wire, silver conductors, etc.)...
