  • Buying another Valve Amp... Recommend?

I'm looking to get another Valve amp together with my AC30. I'm currently looking at the Marshall JVM410H & the cab I'll still decide on, or the Orange RockerVerb 50H or maybe the AD30. I'm looking for a badass punch tone. Any recommendations? I play a Les Paul Custom.
I just purchased a JVM410h on Wednesday and I must say its a pretty killer amp. You have endless possibilites with all the channel options which does help alot.

That orange is a sweet amp too (from what I have heard on YouTube) what does the orange cost tho? I am sure its a fair amount more?
I actually think it's a bit cheaper that the JVM. You much did you pay for the JVM? Because at the moment it's my first choice.

I'd rather go for the rockerverb, to be dead honest...

for the last 10 years Marshall have been doing some really silly things with their designs.... Eg. in the TSL2000, the power valves and their heaters are mounted DIRECTLY on to the PCB?!?!?! do they WANT it to catch fire?? Wouldn't actually surprise me, to be honest... they make more money from amp sales that way ? The high gain mode of the JVM is far too noisey and un-usable, and running the amp clean with an external overdrive pedal gives a harsh sound....

Now I know Satriani has used JVM's for the last few years, but his are highly modded so that the amp has decent components (watch his gear run through's on jootoobe) and he's even hinted at a signature model ?. In fairness, the top of the range stuff like the re-issues, the Slash signature AFD and by all accounts the YJM signature are VERY nice however, and would be really worth the money spent on them. I A/B'd an AFD with a Dual Rectifier at Coastal Music in Durban a while back and far preferred the Marshall...

        Otherwise, the rockerverb ?
The word punchy in my mind brings up that Orange rockerverb.. awesome sounding amp, beyond punchy with the orange cab
Have you considered having one built for you.
JP Le Roux makes very nice amps. I have a 2x12 soldano with Head and Cab. Cab has 2 original 1969 Greenbacks in it.
His work is great and competitivley priced.

Orange TH-30 combo, Rockerverb 50 mkII 112 combo or Mesa/Boogie Roadster combo would be my choices for different reasons...
Marshall Music in Woodmead have an Orange TH30 and its going for under R6000. It sounds amazing.
for bad ass punch tone, i'd go with the rockerverb, but only a head into 2 x 12 cab would give you that.

Impossible? (If its true I'll have to make a plan to get it home asap.) Should be 3x that much... I'm talking about the combo though... roughly $1350 which translates to at very least R16k after discount, I'd guess? Wouldn't be surprised if its over R20k... The head won't be significantly less. Or am I dreaming?
I'm talking about just the head. I phoned them and they said it was just under R6000. I was also surprised.
Zark you could be right. Maybe they made a mistake with the quote.
