Or so it would seem... 9 times out 10 I can't get onto the site for server not found issues. I just know that damned Singemonkey is behind this >☹

I've been getting that. I suspect it's a DNS thing. It seems to be worse (for me) on iBurps than it is via Internet Solutions.
Nothings changed for me... I therefore feel persecuted! ?
I was getting it a lot yesterday, but my connection was a bit flaky too (and of course, every time I ran a traceroute, it would immediately start working again). Anyone else seeing this behaviour?
Never experienced this, have ISDSL at home.

this site worked fine for me, but i got it on News24 site the entire day yesterday.
had no problems at all on cellc or isdsl .....
Had the same issue as Alan, once you do a traceroute it starts working again. Had to do that on multiple sites, not just GFSA though.

IMO the problem occurs with some ISPs and not others. I don't believe the server is actually down.
It only happens with GFSA though.... no problems with any other local/international sites ???
How does one run a trace route?

I was getting it with other sites too.

type "tracert guitarforum.co.za" (without quotes) into the run box or a dos box (command prompt) and hit enter.

How does one run a trace route?
                        Click Start > Run
Type in CMD and enter - a command window should appear
Type tracert www.guitarforum.co.za and press enter
The trace should run giving all the jumps it takes to get from you to the site.

My route seems very complicated - seems to be bouncing round in atlas.cogentco.com but I have not had any issues reacing the site

The evidence presented in other threads suggests that Mr Flash Jr. uses a reckoning machine with the OSX software and not the Windows software. Therefore the last two posts are fairly meaningless to him.

                          However, JFJ, GIYF! ?
                            For OSX, just use:

                            traceroute www.guitarforum.co.za

PS: I get this issue as well, mostly from home at times. From work I never see any such error.

GIYF indeed... but google doesn't return results with the same flair you guys do ?

@ Warren, thanks... hope it helps but odd to have to do it just to get into a regular use website...

tracert is a TCP/IP (networking protocol used on the Internet) command rather than specific to some operating system or other. Any OS with a TCP/IP stack should support tracert.
In Linux the commands are 'traceroute' and 'traceroute6'.

                                    Well that was fun:

I have a theory... DynDNS has taken over EveryDNS.com and, as a result, it seems they stuffed up the servers. A friend of mine complained about the same thing happening on Just1.co.za lately. Time to fix! I'll do a domain update and host the DNS myself and see if that fixes it. Thanks for this thread!
