I have caught these guys over the last 30 years or so. First time i was introduced to them was at the King of Clubs in around 1981. The band then comprised of the father and his 2 sons. they rocked and played hendrix better than hendrix i reckon. Over the years i have amde an effort to see them even though their material has not changed much they are always excellent to watch. The olde man passed away a couple of years ago and the band went through some changes with the guitarist's sone also playing etc.

Yesterday i saw them again , 3 piece band belting out hendtrix/zz top stuff and top class entertainment. A good look at their kit and its road worn , held together with tape and wire, pedals powered not by normal 9 v battery but those really big ones ...no airs and graces just damn good rock n roll.

I thoroughly enjoyed them as i always do ,broterhs on guitar and drums and a new bassist. Look our for em , they are the genuine article.....
They made a few excusions into Springs way back maybe even prior 1981 and I saw them a few timnes at Riebeek hotel. And I would like to know where I could take a look again. Where did you spot them yesterday? Cheers - Ray
I saw them circa 1978/9 at Florida Town Hall, all I can remember is Purple Haze. They were good stuff
I posted about them a while ago!! Glad to hear they're still around! Made quite an impression on me when I was a teenager. The experience (pun intended) was quite special, not sure I want to revisit those shores if they don't live up to my memories...
        Where did you catch them?
They were playing at the classic motorcycle's 1000 bike show in Germiston ..... not a regular gig though
I used to watch them at The Smokehouse in CT years ago. I do recall they were LOUD.
Cool if they're still going. :applause:

I watch these guys at the Smokehouse and Pumphouse 20years ago and aways went to bed with my ears ringing bigtime after the night :yup:
Here's a pic of me and the band, will upload the rest later when I get a chance. Was an amazing gig.

                      2 more pics i took

Note the 9 volt battery powering the pedals. The strat i suspect is a 50's model as the truss rod is only adjusted with the neck removed. AFAIK fender changed this for the 61strat , but stand to be corrected on this.
Saw them at the Dylan,s nightclub in rockey street, yeoville in the early nineties, they cooked.....

                          ICM,

Looking at the laminated pickguard and its screw pattern it she would appear to be at the earliest late '59 or early sixties. The pick guards were usually chamfered slightly so that you could snivel a screwdriver in to adjust the rod. The change over to rosewood fret boards started somewhere around mid '59. Same with laminated pick guards. They had a big fat slab fretboard from about '58 to '62 so that would also assist determine its her age (I hope my memory is still ok!!). It would be nice to know its serial number.

A lot of these older Strats have had all kinds of mods and alterations done to them over the years. This particular one is over 50 years old!!!

                          What a beaut!
In the more recent photos she seems to have a new neck (assuming she's the same guitar) as those don't look like clay marker dots.
