I've just set up a toolbar for GFSA using a free service (called Conduit) and, I must say, the results are pretty cool!

First up, we have Google-powered search. Most forums are notorious for having less-than-useful search functions, so I'm hoping this will help! Sadly, even if it doesn't, I can't remove it.

and...

Now you can post a topic a LOT faster. I've only configured the first few boards as it takes a lot of time. If you guys feel a need for the others, as well, just shout and I'll make some time to stick them in there too ?

We have some alternative rock, classical guitar and 80s music here... (Ofcourse, don't use this if you have bandwidth limitations!)

And RSS for each board. Again, let me know if you want more than just the top bunch...

Finally we have chat! It's not integrated with your login details on the forum, so just try and make a point of using the same username as you use around here.

Cool little gadgets to keep you entertained (or productive) when the forum's quiet...

And last of all, an email notifier and weather goodie. It tries to guess your location and doesn't always get it right, but you can right-click it to change the settings...

So try it out and give me some feedback already! ?

I'm listening to the Guitar & Acoustic radio station and it's really nice. There's a lekker acoustic piece playing right now and there's no pauses or blips on my iBurst. Might be because it's Sunday and normal people are out at braais while I'm at home working ?

I just wish I could see the names of the songs playing!
      Looks good Norio,

Gonna give it a try on the work machine... hehehehe!
        Thanks guys ?

Rene, sorry I missed you in chat. Was cooking lunch. My lady is out shooting a wedding so I have to do the bachelor thing ?
Rene, sorry I missed you in chat.
No sweat I was just testing the chat out - I have to admit I am a complete noob when It comes chat. :-[
We should organise a weekly (or daily) chat so we can all get into it. Something we can all handle, given our work commitments.
I think the chat thing will mushroom spontaneously - I often see chat-like post on GFSA particular on Friday nights when some of us are home with our families, missing the vibe outside ?
Nice one! Yea the chat thing will mushroom eventually, Please don't make me sign up for another weekly commitment!!
LOL, I won't make anyone do anything but if no one chats this week, I'm going to have to take some serious measures ?

Like chat-competitions where you're given a word and you have 20 minutes to record something that represents that or something.

(They have something like that on DeviantArt with photography, not sure how well it will translate into guitar though! Maybe just a genre instead of a word)
I'm chatting with Spyke in our brand-spanking new chatroom but it looks like every line either one of us types shows up twice :/

I'm thinking of replacing this chat program with something free from HotScripts.com or something. Anyone got a suggestion of something reliable that they've used before?
I found a cool chat that integrates nicely with the software we use for the forum. The great thing is that it adds in a "x many users are in chat" goodie to the homepage so you can easily see when it's worth your while to log in?

                      https://blueimp.net/ajax/#download

Will integrate when I get a chance.

The link for the toolbar does`nt want to work..... >☹
When i click on the link, it opens a new tab and than gives me "Untitled" blank page....
The toolbar link automatically attempts to install the toolbar (without showing a new page or anything) so maybe you're blocking it somehow? Switch off all PC security software for a minute and then click it. Once it's installed, you can switch it all back on again.
