If there's anything I'd like from the Guitar Forum is that you do something about it's speed - it's just soooooo slooooooowwww! Maybe it's the people hosting your website. I heard from one of the administrators a while ago that the site is not even hosted in South Africa! ?

Yeah it is down every now and then and generally unresponsive at times. ☹

Yeah. It's a bit better now but I had some time outs earlier today. This is not necessarily the fault of the server on which the site is hosted, but I didn't have big delays using, for example, google groups or a couple of overseas F1 sites.

We've been having some issues recently with some resource-hungry sites on the same server that have brought the server nearly to its knees. I'm moving those sites elsewhere over the next 48 hours and things should return to normal soon.

We simply can't afford to host locally. It's far too expensive.

Agree with Norio!

To give you an idea, hosting a virtual machine in the states would cost about R190 per month. Hosting the exact virtual machine in SA would be close to R2000.
If we start talking about physical server hosting, you will roll over and die!

I have a virtual server at a well known ISP, with only 5GB of traffic a month + 20GB of disk space, that cost clost to R1000 a month.
I think GFSA will smack that 5GB of traffic within 2 days or less.

Sure Norio is working on a master plan ?
