I'm sure some of you guys already own one of these, but just thought I'd sing some praises:

Dude from Prosound came around to the band room last night to demo some vocal harmony effects units for our lead singer (some AMAZING stuff you can get too), and he happened to bring along a little TC Electronics PolyTune. Check it out here: http://www.tcelectronic.com/polytune.asp

Coolest thing about this chromatic tuner is that you can simply do an open strum across all strings, and then tune them all at once! No individual string tuning, though you can do that too.

Very well priced at around R1300 too. Definitely going to pick one of these babies up!

Props to the dude from Prosound too, he was really helpful and took time out of his evening to come and chat to us.

    Ooh, nice review.

I also personally didn't get the whole "pedal tuner" thing but for someone like me who hasn't made the plunge to buy a pedal tuner, it's a no-brainer really. The Boss is more expensive without the "polyphonic" feature.

      They are nice...

Has any one tested it on an acoustic guitar? That is my only gripe...
        Works for alternate/open tunings?
If anyone wants to arrange a group order from Proguitarshop.com, if you order 4, they'll come in around R865 each with shipping.

          Just saying ?

You should check out the review Alan posted. The polyphonic function doesn't support alternate tunings, but since it's a still a chromatic tuner you could always tune individual strings like you would with other tuners.

No built in mic for acoustics. ☹ But to be fair, it is a pedal tuner for stage use and most acoustics used in that environment would have a pickup.

I'm pretty interested. I've been looking into this tuner pedal malarkey - especially considering that my main stage guitar is going to have a Bigsby and may require more regular tuning than normal. Being able to whack the strings and tune only the out of tune culprits sounds like a really important advantage.
@ Warren, on a side note, who was the guy?

Well tuners are not all equal. I recently bought a TU-3. I found it to be much more responsive than the types that clip on a headstock. Those, in my experience, are not good if you want to tune in a hurry. They seem to need to reset before responding again.

I also found it to be more reasonable, and there's a very clever interface with the display jumping into a different mode when the string is tuned exactly. This makes it very intuitive to use.

If you spend $400 or more (so you must just add another $4) then proguitarshop ship international for free ?

Let me squeeze a rothwell compressor in and I'll make up the other $4
Brent I'd already included that, hehe, why'd you think I said 4 ?

I've got the Pitch Black and no real reason to upgrade, but if I were buying new now, I'd get the Polytune.

Yeah i noticed that. But does the Polyphonic tuning work with a plugged in acoustic?
I am quite sure I read somewhere that the fellow testing it was struggling to get an accurate reading when trying to tune his acoustic guitar... I may be wrong, but it put me off instantly...
Otherwise I would have had one already... But then again... I'm addicted to 'sweetened' tunings on the Peterson... So might just get a Strobostomp instead.

                            4 Poly Tunes @ $99 = $396.. Trust me 8) You need me to fill that last $4... ?

And a TC Electronics Nova Repeater? ?

Erm, his name escapes me. I have his business card at home, will post this evening.

I have the Polytune App for iPhone and it tunes an acoustic no problem.

@ Warren, did you try the tuner in a live setting yet?
