Hi
Any GFSA people going to perform?
Any GFSA people going to perform?
Come on Conrad, let's do it. We can give each other support!Conrad wrote: I dunno, I suddenly have stage fright. Would like to play there at least once again before Oct. It helps with the rust & stage fright.
Hey I'll also provide support and promise to holler, whistle and so on. For a fee I could even be persuaded to not throw underwear on the stage.Squonk wrote:Come on Conrad, let's do it. I will consult the Wife-E. Yes then we can finally meet you.Squonk wrote:Come on Conrad, let's do it. We can give each other support!Conrad wrote: I dunno, I suddenly have stage fright. Would like to play there at least once again before Oct. It helps with the rust & stage fright.
What kind of underwear? I need to know if we should record this ?X-rated Bob wrote:Hey I'll also provide support and promise to holler, whistle and so on. I was going to say that I'll even spring for the post-set drinks, but then TJs would get flooded with GFSA members.
We am coming!X-rated Bob wrote: Just my usual punt: This is a friendly, encouraging atmosphere for those wanting to take first steps into live performance.
TJs provide the PA and mics. You need to bring yourself, your acoustic guitar, maximum 3 songs (OK.... four, you may get an encore).

Will make end of August open Mic hopefully
That's Chris Smith. He uses some weird tuning of his own devising.Conrad wrote: There was this left handed guitarist playing a right handed guitar so his technique was to primarily strum and pick upwards. Even his solos were played that way and he does it really well too. It was interesting to watch. It's like one of those Escher sketches that messes with your head LOL. It's very much upside down and inside out playing ?
Conrad, there are things that you can control and things that you can't. You controlled the things that you could very well, and the people there enjoyed yours and Letita's set.Our sound was feeding throughout our set and when it wasn't doing that, we had no sound at all. I was pretty embarrassed after our performance in the end.
Well it was open mic night, so some folks never seen before at TJs turned up. Which is what is supposed to happen.Keira WitherKay wrote: pity i missed it . thursdays are prime teaching nights these days.......... so afraid i'm missing all the fun ...........
who all played? i assume by the posts conrad and chris......... who else
Yes Grant's strat copy was out of tune a lot but apparently his acoustic was in for repairs and he is not used to electric so maybe he was pressing too hard. Nice voice though and humble person. Brendan and I were trying to wrap our minds around Chris Smith's technique. My food basket was awesome.X-rated Bob wrote:Well it was open mic night, so some folks never seen before at TJs turned up. I didn't stay the whole night. The Missus wasn't feeling well.
Fingerpicker played. Some guy by the name of Gil who did a Dylan song, Springsteen's "Nebraska" and two of his own. There was some guy with an out of tune Behringer strat who actually sang pretty well. I was asked to play, but I didn't have a guitar with me and I further reasoned that a TJs open mic night that DIDN'T have me playing was going to be a real novelty. Tom Howden was the host and did an opening set of great story songs - all with a feminist theme.
Ja. Very nice guy. I think that capo he was using didn't do him many favours. Those spring-loaded jobs are often too heavy handed for an electric. One needs to use something like a Shubb where you can pre-set it for a guitar so that it delivers just enough pressure.Conrad wrote: Yes Grant's strat copy was out of tune a lot but apparently his acoustic was in for repairs and he is not used to electric so maybe he was pressing too hard. He was pretty nervous. With a little vocal coaching and settling down earlier he'll be quite an amazing singer - he does have a great voice. And a super-nice guy, yeah.X-rated Bob wrote:Ja.
