Hi all

I'm a n00b. You can call me Jericho.

I've been in possession of a guitar since October 2008 and went through various phases of just picking it up, plucking away and hoping to get better. I did (well, according to my room-mate back then) who said that towards the end of our stay together, he could pick up a melody from the twanging going on in my room! Personally, I think I suck. ☹

I own two Yamaha's. The first is my baby, a FG700S. My first guitar and lovely. I've had it for almost two years now and I've noticed the sound has mellowed a little bit (think it's the wood aging) but it is so lovely. Wouldn't trade it away for anything…

I recently started taking "proper" lessons and learning lots of lead guitar. So I've gone out and bought a Yamaha Pacifica 112. Here she is….

She's at Music Connection right now being set up after I took her home for a week to get used to. Action was way too high…and the factory strings were kak. Hoping to get her back this week along with this

Ordered it off Muz.co.za who gave me a R300 discount on it after I told them Soundtrader were selling the same amp for R1,899. Sweet!

I'm joining here to learn from the many better players and to perhaps offer some insight and humour to proceedings. Not too lofty, my ambitions... ?

I quite fancy the cubes. they are very simple and no nonsense.

Yeah, I was looking for exactly that. Same with my playing really. I want to nail down some real technique and skill before I go out and buy a crap load of effects and pedals.

      Cheers for the welcome.
        Welcome man.

im in two minds.... Roland 15x or a Spider IV 15....

The FG700 has a solid spruce top so, yes, that would definitely change with time. Spruce tops usually open up with time and playing. I'd expect this process to continue for 2 or 3 more years at least.

Hello Jericho, I have got some Yamaha FG's and I like them. some time back in the Gutarist mag review they reckon it's the Toyota of acoustic guitars. But I dont have a sweat stopping mine.
                        Welcome Jericho

                        Yamaha's are great guitars

....Our bassist just moved to JHB. Although the music scene is bigger, i still prefer Durbz, just can't beat the weather and the general laid back vibe.
