Current and temporary solution.

Hello there! More often than not, I get my kicks from my Blackstar modelling amp, an ID:15 TVP. The footswitch allows me to stomp through the patches. I only rock out at my guitar teacher's place, so it's plenty. I have invested in some pedals though: 1. Wampler Clean buffer - latest addition, to maintain the integrity of the guitar signal 2. T-rex Nova compressor - it adds a nice sparkle 3. Zendrive clone (Pop Effects) - I'm trying to use it like some guys use the Blues Driver; minimum gain to add a little something to the clean tone 4. Amptweaker Tight Metal - rawkus distortion 5. Boss DD-3 delay - 50ms mode, longest delay time. I saw Paul Gilbert demonstrate a hidden feature recently. Strum something, and then activate the pedal. The DD-3 will hold and repeat part of what was played. Haven't tried it yet myself, but I'm excited. 6. Marshall Regenerator - one stop modulation shop. I use the vintage chorus a lot, in conjunction with the Roland EV-5 expression pedal. That's the lot, all powered by a T-rex fuel tank.

So, I built a board using pallet wood:

First, we cut the planks to size, and fit them to get an idea of how the finished product would look

Then we sloped the sides so the board stands at an angle.

We then planed them to ensure the planks are exact carbon copies of each other.

Using glue and screws we attached the horizontal planks to the feet/side planks

Once they were all attached, we sanded off all the rough edges, splinters and nibbly bits, then applied a wood stain.

Whic gave me this as a finished product.

After this, I applied strips of Velcro for attaching the pedals, and then the pedals themselves.

Pirate No ways...a yamaha magic stomp! One can get some very weird sounds outta them ?

I'm sure the pallet wood is very light. great for lugging around - but I can't help but think it might not stand up (pun unintended) to the rigours of gigging?

As for your pedalboard... we need a soundclip, bud. You know how it works 'round here ?

V8 I mostly use it for delay and reverb for now.

So far the board's holding up nicely. No looseness, warping, structural integrity loss noticed. I made the board last year somewhere, so it's about a year old now. Had a couple of gigs with it, still good.

A buddy and I went halvies on the required pine ply to make the pedal boards (we made two)... The pine ply cost like R200 - R300 and then couple hundred bucks for the "brandering"/thinner bracing.
Some latches, screws, wood glue, acoustic carpet and stain.

Got the pine ply precut from timbercity.

This is the base before we added the top layer of pine ply, covered in acoustic carpet.

The lid looked like a coffin :-P, here you can see us test fitting the base whilst having it upside down. Yes, the lid was "deeper" than we needed and the board was MUCH bigger than we'd ever need.

For the context I was playing in (church without massive amproom thing) I couldn't get the tone I wanted out of my DSL401 Marshall tube amp and individual stomps setup... so I used a boss GT8 for a while before upgrading to the HD500X.

Will I stay digital? Will I go back to analogue? Who knows... maybe if the band takes off I will go all "rockstar" again.

Back then when everyone was playing with cool pedal boards, I was still going guitar into amp. These days I actually have a board for certain jamz
