I'me shure some of you have heard a song on the radio called "According to You"...real pop type song ???, but with some hectic shredding every now and then...

Ceck out this chick, she can rip an axe apart! WHOOOOOO!

"Her first support show was for Steve Vai at age 15. Orianthi had the opportunity to meet and jam with Carlos Santana when she was 18." - Wikipedia
Cue the usual comments about the irrelevance of her shreddage given her hotness ?
Yep she is cool. A little too poppy for my tastes but very good nonetheless
I don't really dig her singing, but her guitar playing is awesome!

Ja. It's a sad comment on the times that we live in that female musicians still tend to not get regarded for their musicianship. Especially if they're young and pretty.

Have you heard Joan Armatrading play guitar? She's a really fine player, but too many people (of both sexes) don't seem to see that and say things like "pretty good for a girl."

There was an interesting column in The Times (the UK paper) recently, in which the columnist critiqued an Alicia Keys show that he'd been too and remarked how it was, for him, off-putting that she wasn't allowed to just be a musician on a stage performing songs (she's a strong vocalist and keyboard player) but had to wear the tight outfits, do the dance numbers, shake her booty, writhe around in a cage etc.
I'm sure she has a great personality ?
AND great taste in guitars too
Orianthi is great, but the more I listen to her the more I wonder if she really is that good. If one is to be honest one would have to say that there is really nothing unique about her playing and if you close your eyes and just listen you will hear that her blues/rock style is similar to countless other guitarists. What is extraordinary is that she is a woman who plays like that, and then to see her wear the guitar low and look like a gunslinger when she struts her stuff.

I like her though, from other perspectives too. She's just the right age for me. ?
If you go onto Youtube and search for a video called "getting to know Orianthi" you'll see her very messily choke 2 or 3 bends in a row, I don't think she's an amazing player by any means. She's got good feel and phrasing but at the end of the day I don't really think she's exceptional - There's potential though ? and she is real purdy. However from a purely technical point of view Jeniffer Batten destroys her, and I think the Miley Cyrus style pop music is annoying...

But then again what does my opinion mean any way - She played with Michael Jackson, I'm just some South African douchebag ?. Maybe there's a special magic to her that you just don't feel in videos - maybe it manifests itself in your pants ? At least she's giving girls a better role model than Hannah Montana.

                    Booyah!

Although, she looks really young...I must be getting old.
A few guitarists have become famous because their image appealed to fans, even though their work wasn't that remarkable - *coughslashcough* >?
She's got some great chops. Exceptional? I can't really say.
I love her guitar but don't really like her tone.
                        And she's pretty.

:roflmao: Nice one SM! But G'n'R still wrote some great tunes.

well all i can say is woman are no longer 2nd rate guitarists .......... and maybe not us 40 ish muso's to whom lead guitar was always a male domain..... but i been seeing internationally and even teaching some mean young teens and twenteens woman guitarists who could out play many of my male students .......... with heir abilities..and they all being original artists. none is wanting to emulate a "guitar hero from past"

so the lead guitar label is in coming years even in jhb is not exclusively reserved for the "boys club" although to be honest most pro woman guitarists tend to be lesbians ...........mmm interesting . i'm sure someone will publish a paper on that soon i'm sure.............. but it's true with exceptions of course like to any rule

Yeah... that is rather an ugly girl... black nail polish to look cool... I don't know, I think Ms Hammett plays ok for a girl... wish she'd grow some balls and get back to playing like Master of Puppets... instead of rehashing yet another version of something thats in its third phase which is truly, and honestly, unforgivable... sigh

Currently giving her Believe album a listen. Not bad stuff, a little bit poppy, although mixed with some good playing.

I did see her on on This Is It on Mnet last night. The poor girl did seem a bit confused as to where to go and what to do when around MJ. Don't blame her though. ?

Jip, saw her as well last night on This Is It. One thing still stay the same: She rocks!!!!
You can see the passion in her eyes. She enjoys every second of playing!!!
