There seem to be two kinds of guitar branded "Ella". The one is what looks like a very nice line of high-end bass guitars.

I suspect that what you are asking about are the Ella branded acoustic guitars (and banjos) bought in to the country by BK Percussion. See http://www.bkpercussion.co.za/index.php

I haven't seen these in the music shops that I frequent in Jo'burg, so I don't have any opinion about them. I'd contact BK to find out about retail outlets in your area and then go and check the guitars out.
Yeah, finally found them on BK percussion's price list so that helps. Think i'm going to contact BK and ask where they are produced/sourced from.

    thanks, by the way ?

I think I bought one this morning, acoustic electric, thin body, nothing on headstock. Sticker inside could well say Ella.
Nicely made, pickup works, action isn't bad. It's going to be my "braai" guitar ?

Philo No, it clearly isn't - but nice try on the sneaky marketing.

Your Ella is a different beast...and at USD10,500...it is literally unobtanium. Pretty though.
