I dunno why it happens to me, but for some reason, people always try talk to me on stage, mid song. Usually I don't engage them and ignore them completely, this time was a little more difficult though.

I was battling so hard to stop my guitar from distorting too so I REALLY didn't want to have to deal with that woman.

Does this happen to anyone else?

Mick Jagger. Bryan Adams. Imagine the stories you can swap with those too.
AAH Don you're just so irresistible man.
      I didn't see any bra's flying 'though.
It's not unusual. Often it's someone with a song request, or some half drunk guy telling you how he used to be in a band in the '60s (and secretly hoping you'll invite him to guest on a rousing rendition of a Shadows or Creedence number).

I've noticed it's all down to the stage itself: the taller the stage, the less likely you are to get unwelcome stage guests (wedge monitors across the front of the stage help too - even if you're using in-ears, two or three empty wedge cabs keep the nutters away).

Interestingly, it's not the physical barrier of the stage, but the psychological one separating you away and above the audience. In an open air gig like the one in your vid, one of the retractable rope "barriers" used for queues stretched around the sides and back will stop all but the most determined interlopers without hampering the view.

But don't try discourage them completely. Remember what David Lee Roth said - "Audience participation should extend from onstage to offstage to under the stage". ?
you should take a lesson from mr Henry Rollins, I do believe he is JHB at the moment, well I know he was as I met him the other night. He seems to deal with this annoying person just fine
Dude. You must be making it look too easy. She probably didn't think you needed to concentrate at all.

            But seriously. WTF?

+1 haha I thought the same thing... There is no beating up in that video... hahaha

@ Donovan What the hell did she say or what was she doing? ?

If it was Blake Lively I wouldn't have minded tho.... ? ? ?
I think she just saw the camera and wanted to be in the video.

                  The conversation went something like this;
Her: can I come up here?
                  Me: No.
                  Her:mumbles something more.
Me: Get off you can't be here.
Her: more incoherent mumble, something about the camera.
Me: Go speak to John (the bassist)
then she mumbled more and I tried my best to avoid her pinching my butt.

Yeah, she was sitting politely and smiling at me... :-[
HAHAHAHA! thats so bad. The other day we played an outdoor gig in the evening, and some dude sneaks up behind the stage, and keeps on tapping our drummer on the shoulder to have a charlie chat with him, to the point where in between songs we had to wait for our drummer who was constantly being put off by this guy. I dunno what he was on about. ?

                      one hit wonder
@ Don your lead was sounding good until the accosting.... ?
lol, no Squonk it was horrid. My guitar was distorting the whole day and I couldn't fix it.
Damn Don, sorry for laughing but I thought that was very funny. Almost looks like she could be your mother asking: "When you've finished frolicking with your friends, please come and eat, your lunch is getting cold!" ? ?

Rock 'n' roll. Why would you want to fix it?

                                  What Elvis?
Hahaha oh boy that was a gooooood laugh! Would have been better if it wasn't my mother!!

We do the usual, "Can't help falling in love..." and a song called "I just can't help believing."

although I have played with an Elvis impersonator before it was such a jol.
