  • Slash and the mysterious amplifier that contributed to the "Appetite" tone

For those of you who are Slash fans, there has always been a lot of talk about his tone, specifically on the Appetite for Destruction album, and huge amounts of speculation particularly around the mysterious amplifier that was used to record the album.

I came across these 2 articles which proved to be a very interesting read and ultimately put paid to the mystery. Enjoy!

    Wicked stuff Shaun!!!

    Interesting read :bopping:

I got to admit that I have never even heard about the misterious debate, even though I am a Slash fan. On the other hand I have to admit that this crave for "the tone" is totally not understandable by my small brain. None of my guitar heros really remained contant with their "signature tones". Every Clapton album sounds different, and they are all great. Same with Slash. Same with Gilmour, Santana, Young. And so on. Great guitarist have the signiture sound in the way they play, not in the way their amps sound.
