The thing is you know the Integrity that you have with your music.
Dont let anyone else take it away from you.
If they want to call it Banana Menco, so be it.
Rodrigo y Gabrielle also try and explain this when people try and categorize their style as Flamenco, World music or Mexican.
I think it's on their first big album that was released in RSA, Rodrigo insists they are ex metal shredders who make music that they love, Gabrielle later states that she doesn't really care what people think, she just loves guitar. ?
Say no more....

Dude... dude. Those clips were great, you've attained what is most necessary in music (ref: Bob's post) - you moved the listener. Enjoyed thoroughly. Whenever somebody tells you something's not real, first look at their context (their own skill and forum they're on, in this case I mean the internet in general), forgive them for being idiots (after all you're not hawking knock-off Nike's at the traffic lights) and remember that a lot of great artists were called fakes and worse when they started (thinking of the Pre-Raphaelites)...

Thank you Jackflash.
You know the thread on the flamenco forum got so out of hand that they administrators had to delete it this morning. That is insane. People were using racial slurs on each other and even threatening with legal action.

I have noticed on other internet sights any obnoxious little dweeb can make the most inciting and grossly rude remarks and hide behind their anonymity. Here we know where you and your family live. ☹ ??? ?

Yeah right! Like my first name is really "X-Rated". And Squonk's parents loved Genesis THAT much.

I found a way to fake profient keyboard playing, it involves three chords and hitting any sequence of white keys, must be some kind of mode that relates to the chords, just avoid the black keys # and flats, if there is a keyboard at Graemestock I will demo the method

WTF?
Intent makes a big difference. If you're going out there to sell music to the widest audience possible, and will make any changes to what you play to rope a few more people in, you need to ask yourself whether you're still a musician or just a business person.
But if you play Hawaiian guitar christmas songs because that's what makes you tingle, you don't need to worry about what anyone says.
p.s. You've got to love it when fora go crazy. Yep, here it's easy to simply look bob up under x in the phone book ?

I like what Singe said. ?

I think this forum is one of the last 'sane' and level-headed, and above all, friendly forums on the South African internet. I've been here since Feb and I have had not one problem.
Many other forums on the SA internet have either p*ssed me off or people there have sought to discredit me because the forum always has to be an e-pen1s size contest which I have little time for. For the sake of brevity and not causing any disharmony, because I know some of you are active on the other forums I have issues with, I will not mention names.

Exactly!

Gmmpf... Well you weaklings might have an e-pen1s, but I have an E-pen1s.2.1.0. Its the newer version with the bigger, well, bells. Plus its spelled slightly differently. So I win! ? (at least until version 2.1.2 with the slightly upgraded thrust rod comes out....) But jokes aside, ja its great to see as much enthusiasm from the members for a nice starter guit as for a top of the range one. Lekker man, lekker.

The difference here is simple actually.
We have a wide spectrum of people on this forum, from beginners like me, to full pros.
Do any of the people here go through power trips? No
Do the admins/mods here feel the need to go on power trips? No
Is the forum being censored? No
Do we have people talking down to the newbies and treating them like children? No
Is there a condescending atmosphere here? No
Hence why I say, this is one of the last good forums on the internet.
yes, I was paranoid when I started out here, but you cannot really blame me, considering what I've been through on other forums.
I have also discovered that people who play, musicians and anyone connected to music or the production thereof, seem to be the sort of people
that I associate myself with, people who are keen to help, advise and are not online to cause trouble or to strut their e-pen1s. In fact it has been a revelation coming here, to see 80-90% of the forum membership being, for lack of a better word, humble.

There's even more to this forum than what's been mentioned in this Thread.
I still need to thank Arjun, Stratisfear, Brentcgp, Fingerpicker, Webejame, Bob and his better 5/8's for being so supportive at TJ's the other night.
You couldn't have wished for a better support group to help with the nerves of performing live for the first time.
I was sick (even had a bit of the runs, the old nerves were shot) and was on the verge of anouncing that I was just there to spectate rather than play. After a glass of wine(thanks Webejame) and lots of encouragement from all the GFSAffers it was a whole bunch easier to get up on the stage and have a go.
So this forum not only works in cyberspace, it's very practical as well.
The amazing thing is that even though most of us all met for the first time, it was if we had been buddies since the Boer War, or at least The Battle of Hastings ?
