  • Jhb area clinics / get-togethers ?

We'd love to see something similar to Graemestock in Gauteng. The most important thing is venue - get that and there's enough shared experience and knowledge among our members that everything else should fall into place.

The venue would have to be:

- somewhere where a few amps can be wound up (or even a full band) without starting World War III with neighbours
- in a fairly central location so the largest number of members can easily attend
- big enough to handle the numbers attending
- have braai/booze facilities
- not a commercial venue where members will be reamed for drinks/eats (although there is nothing wrong with the organiser/venue owner covering costs by selling beers or hotdogs or something at a modest markup)
If there's one, I'm there like a bear. There're 4 input jacks on my Twin ?
Last time Stratisfear a jam. Haven't seen him around much though...
Last year there was a get together that Stratisfear organised - this took place in a recording/rehearsal facility in Roodepoort. There was some jamming and some discussion at that. From the discussion arose the planning of the excellent setup seminar, organised by Gearhead, that Andy McGibbon was kind enough to host and devote considerable time to. Subsequently Keira hosted and organised an excellent jam at her digs out in Midrand.

So there are things happening up in Gauteng. All of these were announced and reported on the forum.

I put out an invite for an acoustic get together, venue to be chez X-Rated but IIRC there were only 2 takers, and given that you'll always have one or two that, for perfectly good reasons, can't make it I didn't go ahead. Now that holidays are over I may try again. But not this week - I have some pressing engagements.

yeah well i would be keen to support any acoustic gatherings...or even host another one like i did last year ..... since i have a venue that is on a large enough piece of land that neighbours won't complain.

but unfortunately i think the majority of players on this site tend to be the rock "crank it up types" and unfortunately even my neighbours would not stand for that ............

but definitely keen to arrange another acoustic day ......

or offer my support to anyone else hosting one(like Bob mentioned he might ).......

my only issue is i perform sunday afternoons which makes a sunday a no go for me....... saturday afternoons get booked up too but less so ......... but again i would only be interested in an an acoustic event ...........i'm way too old for loud music these days......

but yeah maybe someone should get someone on a farm outa town in jhb to host a rock day ........mini woodstock sure someone knows someone who can organise it .............

but yeah the pace of life and biz is just so hectic in jhb most of us have little free time anyway up here ........

? , mmm...not as big an event as that !! ....I was thinking much smaller for this one :-[ say just 4-6 people ??

            @MikeM
....so far , me and you ...anyone else ?
For what? No date. No venue. No details. What's there to sign up for?
Actually... I know a guy in Harties... awesome bass player... far away from his neighbors... hmm gonna have to show him this thread and see if he'll help us out ?

Sounds good but Harties is still a fair drive from Joburg and Pretoria...

Life is fast and hectic up here, organised chaos...

I'm always up for these kind of things if I can make it...
Depends where as I come from way out east. Pretty much new at this but keen like all blazes.
i'm always interested if there is jamming involved.

Someone in Chat was asking about a jam recently, so if there is interest in a get-together/jam in the Joburg area, I can approach the same venue as last time. I could also arrange for a braai to be there, and make more of a day of it, say on a weekend?
I am in. And I can get around now as well!

Passed my drivers last week. Not bad for a 46 year old?

                          Congrats, Squonk!
well done Squonk... now you can enjoy Road Rage like 99% of South African drivers.
Arrange it, I'll make a plan to be there.

I don't get it... People complain about the lack of Joburg goings-on in this respect, and when I offer to organise such a thing, there's (for the most part) a deafening silence. Going once...
I'd pitch for a braai and get-together. And I think Rudolf said he'd pitch.

I enjoyed the day that Keira put together late last year, not just the playing but also meeting GFSAers in real life.
if this time there is less talk and more play ? which I think we both stand for. lol.
Stratis, I'll make an effort to be there ?
