I been doing this ex. for the past 4 years every day before i start playing guitar.
It really gets your fingers loose, and the blood flowing, which helps for that cold winter fingers.
It works for me, let me know if works for your warm up.
P.S: only do it for about 5 - 10min at the beginning of the jam session, and for 5 - 10 min at the end of the session. what you do between that time is called jaming and having fun!!!

Good one, a real string hopper - pure torture.
I prefer to do scales and modes 4 notes at a time as a warm up eg here is a natural minor (aeolian)
