The hardcore/underground/muso side is just are worse if not worse, they look down on ppl and they are extremely picky with the people they will even fraternise with (as the pop ppl are)
They all dress the same (black shirt/converse shoes/black hoodie/iron fist) and they dont give the time of day to people who dont dress the same (as the pop ppl do)
Dude I don't know where you're from but down here in Cape Town we call those guys scene kids and emos, you left out skinny jeans in that description. The metalheads down here are all great and treat metal like one big family, we have people like Patrick Davidson (Mind Assault) who is involved with Metal4Africa who treat all metal bands with a lot of respect even if they're not his personal taste. He goes out of his way to promote younger bands by allowing rotations of them at the bigger events Metal4Africa arranges, which are always highly organised and run incredibly smoothly with good sound at great venues and they make sure that each Metal band at least earns enough to cover their transport costs. The whole Metal4Africa team are great, they run great shows and really care about getting S.A metal acts as much exposure as they possibly can arrange, and the reason that they're so good to bands is cause they are all in bands and know what all the big issues are and try and address them.
Down here in Cape Town among the Metalheads (that means people who don't listen to anything with CORE attached to the end - those are Emos) there's a great sense of comraderie and everyone trys to be supportive and have fun ? it's really cool. There are those people who listen to that Core stuff that kinda ruin the vibe a little but if you just stay away from them and stick with the guys in regular jeans and t-shirts with long hair that don't have neon coloured hoodies ?
I don't know about everywhere else but the majority of the people I know down here consider stuff like MetalCore to be a new form of teeny bopper pop with slightly heavier orchestration and Deathcore and all the other excessive forms of CORE music to just be irritating non-musical noise. That just tends to be the general opinion around the metalheads I know ? No offence meant to anyone who does like the stuff that ends with CORE it's just that to some people when the band hits the mediocre sounding chorus with the clean vocals talking about love/sadness/feelings of anxiety or whatever with the excessive amount of Antares Autotune on the voice some of us actually taste a little bit of iron in our mouths, yes I do believe it might actually cause us to have a slight stroke. Also when they hit the breakdown that always appears after the second chorus I can almost certainly guarantee that it is in 4/4 it may sound like an odd time signature which allows you to believe that there is startling technicality to it but 80% of the time it's just the staccatoed (spelling :\) chords on the off-beats that are throwing you off.
A joke: What's The hardest thing about being in a Metal-Core band?
Answer: Telling your parents that you are gay...
If you'd like a great example of what I'm talking about go to Youtube and watch the Video "Stick Stickly"
by a band called "Attack! Attack!"
(I'm gonna get so much flack for this I know) ?
