OK... how about kicking off the new year with some getting together and guitar playing? Let's see if there's some interest.
I'm proposing Saturday 2nd January. Venue is the x-rated residence. This is in suburban Jo'burg so that really rules out percussion and amplifiers (unless I want to annoy my neighbours - which I don't). I want to gauge the interest first.
So
1: You can come to play and braai or just to braai. Obviously if nobody wants to play then there's rather less fun.
2: I have covered areas in the garden - so guitars (and people) will have shelter from the elements.
3: I will provide the braai facilities and some snacks and bread rolls. Also a bath full of ice for putting drinks in.
4: You bring your own drinks, your guitars, your talent and enthusiasm. It would be helpful if you bought a salad to share.
5: I have parking for (with a squeeze) 6 or 7 cars. We also have a roving security patrol in the area.
6: I have dogs. Not big dogs, but it's their house and they have the run of it. They are more likely to try to scrounge food and pats on the head than to bite. In the past they have been OK with kids. EDIT: But please don't bring your pets.
7: I don't want to post a complete address on an open forum, but I live in Montgomery Park. If you're saying "where's that" then it's between Melville and Northcliff, right opposite Westpark Cemetery (and yes, we know the joke about "the dead center of town").
8: Depending on numbers I might ask for volunteers to bring some extra chairs and a couple of umbrellas
9: No. You are not invited to raid my vegetable patch ?
10: Start is early afternoon.
11: Strictly acoustic
12: The wife says you can bring your knitting.
So I want to gauge interest. Please indicate if you are interested and additionally if you are interested in playing.

I need to get an idea of numbers of people and the number of people who will be playing.
So please indicate if you are just coming to braai or if you're interested in playing.
And that j.... word. What I am hoping for is that people will come along and perform some songs/tunes rather than we all get our guitars out and play a collective 12-bar blues for 3 hours.
So let's call it an acoustic get together.

Up to now I'm on my own. I'm trying to commandeer some other guitar playing friends, but no reply as yet.
As far as playing - I would enjoy playing with others. I do not do the singing thing, so if that is a requirement to do solo bits - sorry I'm out.
