Fek someone has offered him R8k ☹

21Fretter

Even though he said he would hold it? Pretty uncool.

MikeM

Ag no dude. He did tell me someone has offered him R8k, he was cool about it.

If I was in that situation I would also go for the better offer. At least he gave me an opportunity to match it ?

"Other dude bought something else! You are still in the running" - Ok everyone please pray to the GAS gods for me. ?

Ray

Hah! So it's you! Bail before your heart breaks. I've got more money than you could ever hope to have hey.

AlanRatcliffe

Ahhh. ☹ When you see a great deal like that you should jump through every hoop to get it as soon as possible before the seller realises they can get more for it. Of course, it could also be that the seller woke up to the fact and wanted a way to back out gracefully while still giving you the option to up your offer.

It's a marketing ploy. Careful.

Ray

For anyone who has shown interest in this ad on gumtree, you may have received the notification that it has been deleted and a link to an ad for the exact same amp with the price instruction to contact the seller. Reading what Mike has said here and with the comms I get from the guy it is clear that he has reviewed his situation and now sees more $. I have told him I'm in for 4, if he gets more it's grand for him. If he wants my 4 he can call me when he's ready. An I swear I went for it before I read here that Mike was excited about it. But ja, I will pay what originally advertized for or someone else gets.

This guy is selling other stuff as well and I think he is very well informed

I don't believe this guy would sell an AC30 with blue alnicos for 4K.....he is too well informed. That's why I say it's a ploy.

MikeM

I believe it's actually another guy that just copied his ad. Different phone number, different things up for sale.

Wait, anyone have an idea what the guy's name is? The dude with the 0829082866 number?

Yup, 2 different people with 2 different Voxes. In fact it looks like there are 3 different guys with 3 different Voxes. Huntly in Pta, Dirk in Pta and Victor in Alberton

Dirk wanted R4k - he has removed his ad.
Huntly works for the SA treasury and likes to hike. He is looking for best offer.
Victor is a forum member (although only to advertise I think) and is looking for R11k.

Huntly just sent me this

Hi

I am looking for R8000. There is someone on Gumtree who has lifted my add directly from Gumtree and is charging only R4000 for what is effectively a $1500 amp. However, when I made contact with him he was not sure whether it was the alnico blue model or a much cheaper version - see the following difference in prices:

JeremyE

To me it just looks more and more fishy...

First he's happy selling it at 4k
Then he 'claims' he got offered 8k and you can match if you want...so you choose not to and then his other offer lapses...
Then the add vanishes, another identical one pops up but with a different phone number... it all looks a bit strange.

If he wants to play best offer wins...put it on an auction site!

fjcdt

Something stinks here, could he have posted it dirt cheap and then be attempting to chase it up, surely not on gumtree?
?
It takes all kinds to make a world.

MikeM

Seems like it's the AC30VR that this guy has >☹

vic

But since when does a VR have blue alnico speakers ??

MikeM

Since some lazy ass just copied someone else's advert.

Maybe I'm wrong, will get him to check the speakers when he's home. But yea, from what I have managed to gather, it's a VR.

jt

What do you guys have to say about the hondo 2 eg 502 and the vintage sg and perhaps the rg7321 being advertised? And what you guys pay for those deals? Also, what would guys pay for that ibanez at-200?

jt

i am refering to gumtree jhb, using phone so linking to ads would be a dreadful task.
