  • So guess what happened to me ...

... Yesterday after giving a guitar lesson, I dropped my guitar against the table and boom!!!

Heartbroken is a bit of an understatement... Feel like there was death in the family or something :'(

So I feel too bad to throw the pieces away... Any suggestions on what to do with the remains??

Well, definitely stip it, keep the tuners, definitely keep the pick up... I feel bad to ask, but i may even buy it from you.. Feel like I'm asking to buy your moms wedding ring though.. So, maybe I should ask later..

Really that sucks, if that happened to my acoustic i'd cry... I guess thats what happens when you own guitars worth R10k and up.. ☹
I'm so sorry man! I can't imagine what that would feel like... :'(
Buddy I feel your pain, losing a guitar is like losing a child!
Mine drowned and yours had a head on collision!

Not fair man, not fair!!! :'(
:'(.....Hey but wait, wasn't your aXE taken hostige and the hostige taker then sent you pics of what they were doing to your gorazon if you didn't pay them....so now you can claim from the insurance??? ???
Geez,...... Blues man, that is so aweful......hell sorry for your misfortune......I don't even wanna think what I'd feel if that happened to any one of my guitars.. :'(
Get a quote on fixing it. I've fixed worse than that before. These things are rarely as bad as they first look.

Not quite the same after a repair though, so if you have insurance get paid out and replace.
                Sorry Dirk ☹

My heart goes out to you.

I suppose we will have to concentrate on Electric Guitar lessons now! Just kidding.
That's sad... very sad... I feel for you.
that must have made the worst sound ever... sorry dude. :'(

                    it does look fixable though

Jee... didn't look that bad on the small pic you showed me! It's a bad one, but fixable. Some TLC and tightbond and it'll be ready to go... Sorry man ☹
                        Eish!!! Not nice.

That table has Got to go!
Thanx guys.. I'll have a talk to Andy bout it.. Maybe he can make a plan..

Regarding insurance: Let's not go there, I canceled my insurance two months ago on my acoustics ? ? I know I know. Very very hard lesson to learn..

Would it not be cheaper to buy a new one than to repair? I think they go for around R3500 these days?
You know we have a VERY strict rule in Aeromodeling also which we really drill into students, model aeroplanes/helis crash..just comes with the territory. We really stress to never ever damage such a model more retrieving the pieces. It always looks much worse at first glance than it really ever is, pick it up carefully to not damage any of the breaks and stow it away for the mourning period. Next day take it out and 99.99% of the time you at second glance realise it's really not that bad and easily repairable.

I would fix that guitar man, that bad boy still has a long and happy future ahead of it.

My experience with RC helicopters is quite the opposite - 99.9% needs to be replaced - hence, no more helis for me ?

That guitar does look repairable, though - some wood glue and you're a-for-away ?
I would just replace it, its an excuse for a free upgrade ? Id also keep the old one but put it back together with some weak glue, hand it to a student to show me something then when it breaks in his hand shout at him ? then demand he replace it with a Martin or Taylor ?

You don't know until you get a quote. I'm a bit out of touch and can't speak for Andy or any other luthier anyway.

If costs too much to fix it, replace. Then try fix it yourself (I'm sure we'll all help with advice where you need it). If it works out, you have another backup guitar or one you can sell to an impoverished student cheaply, or simply have around for students to bash on.

If you really don't want to tackle it yourself, send it to me. I'll fix it and give it to someone deserving and impoverished (I know more than a few of those here in the countryside). I'll pay any shipping.
