I have the same issue with Gibson nowadays than the gripe I have with houses that are painted in colours that make your eyes water. To the home owner it might have seemed like a stellar idea at first and we all know how easy it is to make bad choices, but surely somewhere along the line somebody (the painter, a spouse, friend, neighbour or whoever) had to see it for what it was, namely a k@k idea. Considering the future cost of fixing the problem, why didnt somebody have the guts and decency to say - No wait man Jannie, this is going to blind the pets and scare the kids... Surely there must be somebody on the board at the big G who is embaressed by his company right now. Why not say so and do something about it? The Gibson brand is taking a hammering right now, and while its still pretty strong the dammage done will seriously affect street cred and long term profits. All it takes is one person pointing out the obvious to make the rest see it as well.
I agree with you fully, but you'll probably find that the Gibson corporate only sees very pretty looking data sheets and graphs showing that they will make X amount of money by doing this. Then the shareholders will say yes, let's do it. They do not care about the Brand or what it should represent. They only care about the amount flashing in red on the presentation. >☹
