Interestingly enough Manfred, my first try was also delay ridden, but I decided that it didn't fit the brief properly and started from scratch with a solo guitar piece yesterday afternoon. I'm keeping the delayed piece to work on and expand into a complete piece that does it justice.
If you're interested, I'll also post what I have of the delayed one so far... Rough, but there's a good germ of an idea there.
