I've just stumbled across this forum and felt compelled to sign up. Nice forum!
Briefly about myself: been playing around 24 years (got my first guitar for xmas at age 10), I'm english but moved to Joburg nearly 10 years ago now. I play in a couple of covers bands, one of which is a bunch of mates and me, we get together largely for fun although we have gigged occasionally, we're off gigs indefinitely right now as we're breaking in a brand new bass player. The other band is slightly more serious, although I've only been playing with them about a month. Their last lead guitarist dropped out on them and they had gigs lined up, I'd played with the bass player before so he pulled me in to help out, it now seems they want me permanently. Done three gigs with these guys, Saturday nights at a pub down in Rosebank, the last of which, somewhat amusingly, got broken up by the cops. Apparently a neighbour of the pub's threatened legal action about the excessive noise so I'm guessing we won't be playing any more dates there unless we go fully acoustic. We've got another gig, a corporate entertainment show, lined up in two weeks... when that's out of the way we're going to be discussing and deciding the way forward.
