What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Tinariwen's Aman Iman: Waters is Life is still on hot rotation on WKXrated. I was remarking to somebody recently that after a lot of time spent listening to acoustic music the last couple of years I felt the need for some more electricity. Well these guys are delivering that for me right now. There's something emphatic and joyous in the way that Ibrahim Ag Alhabib launches into a solo, the electric guitars sound really electric, and the rhythmic aspect of their music is very interesting. The latter, I think, comes from them not having a conventional drum kit but using djembe and hand claps instead.

They often pedal a note to provide a drone effect under the solos and that really gets my innards all stirred up.

In particular I have lots of love for "Matadjem Yinmixan" (all songs are written in the Tamashek language) where the guitar parts follows the vocal line to thrilling, potent effect.

Brings back memories, way back in about 1977, I came across the same album. Haven't thought about it since then ?

I'm back on the straight and narrow today: Richard Thompson Band - Two Letter Words. Fab live set from 1994. Danny "no relation" Thompson is mighty on bass. The band is tight. Cracking versions of "Tear Stained Letter" (with major electric guitar workout - and I don't care what he says about solos and their place in the scheme of things, this is showing off just for the crack of it) and "Shoot Out The Lights" (mandolin solo!), a flat out, hell-for-leather "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" and a spine tingling duet with Danny on "Ghosts In The Wind". Available as a digital download from Thompson's web site.

Saw a Soulfly vid/documentary the other day, I was really disappointed, They're pretty crap live, the repetitiveness starts grinding a few songs in, the drummer is the hardest workig person on stage, and Max is rather whiny.

Sunshine Of Your Love - John Norum & Jack Bruce :bopping:

Downloaded 1) John Hiatt - Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns 2) Cindy Cashdollar - Slide Show

1) Is good and I like it
2) Is good but I think I need to listen a few more times before I decide. Not an issue - only 60 bucks. I've really enjoyed other stuff of hers much more than this on first listen

I'm not a big soulfly fan at all, My heart still leans towards the original line up of Sepultura. I saw them live in 94 at donnington and they kicked ass. CC is the next best thing.........a lot of energy.

Max has said on many documentaries that he's a lazy player.........but as for him being whiny??.....shame on you.lol.

Joe Jackson - Look Sharp!

I love this album. Everything is so sharp - the songwriting, the production, the performances (especially Graham Maby on bass). I like this sort of post-punk smart pop era, and Jackson was one of the smartest songwriters to come out of that period.

I had a tape of that, it sounded weird after a while in the car, like his voice dropped or something, then it broke. Recently got the CD. Neat choppy strumming and clever lyrics.

KD Lang - Ingenue

A great singer at the top of her game. Amazingly passionate album - full of sensuality.
