What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Finally managed to track down some Tinariwen and I'm enjoying this disc a lot.

X-rated Bob wrote And now Amassakoul from Tinariwen.

And those two are still on hot rotation here at Radio X-rated.

I'm luuuuurving this band. Vital, engaging, distinctive.... this is some of the most envigorating and enjoyable music I've come across lately.

Kinda discovering Paul Gilbert's stuff now. Latest album is Fuzz Universe, pretty cool stuff, bit heavier than what I'm used to. ?

The Radio Rats - Into the Night We Slide

East Rand gothic! The hit single "ZX Dan" is probably the best known/remembered song here, but there's some great rockers here, notably "You Know I'm Not Like That" and the mighty "Law and Order".

So I've been listening to Otis Taylor Recapturing the Banjo and I go to youtube and I find that there is a banjo version of it as well. I dont know on which album that is do you?

Not sure what you're asking but Ten Million Slaves is on the Recapturing the Banjo album. Very good stuff... ironically though the best part of the album is the guitar riff that opens Slaves ?
They used the song all over Public Enemies, the Johnny Depp John Dillinger movie....

Tone

More of the good stuff.

A friend has the vinyl, still wrapped.
I'm spinning Swans today.

Ha! Not really LISTENING but I just got season 2 of Elvis Costello's "Spectacle" series on DVD. I cut straight to the "Build A Band" episode (Allen Toussaint, Levon Helm, Richard Thompson, Nick Lowe) and now I'm watching the "Guitar Pull" episode (Cheryl Crow, Ron Sexsmith, Jesse Winchester). I'm grinning like an idiot so far. If it's all this good then parliamentary debate about legality may be justified.

Gillian Welch - The Harrow And The Harvest

I'm not familiar with Welch's catalogue. This disc has just her and sidekick David Rawlins on it. Are they all like that? I don't know.

Rawlins is very good on this disc. The way he supports and embellishes the tunes is most impressive.

Here's a taster.

I also got an oldie, Hatful of Hollow by the Smiths. Quite interesting. Johnny Marr is very effective on many cuts.

Thanx Bob. I really enjoyed that. :applause:

Howzabout reaching into your pocket hafway through the song and clipping on a capo so you can play the next riff... 8)

Sadly I'm trying to listen to 'Lamb Of God again'. I still dont get the fuss. Its all melded into one long song. They can sure play thou. But Skinny Puppy just won again.

I've got an Alvin CD on the shelf somewhere. I think it's "Ashgrove". He's a good songwriter and player with a real sting in his soloing. Time to dig that disc out again.
