What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Sounds like they're the Anvil of Ireland...

I'm still working through the Joe Boyd "Lucky 13" podcasts that I downloaded a while back. Just marvellous listening - a lot of things that it would never have occured to me to listen to and that I actually quite enjoy. I'm not necessarily going to go out and buy all this stuff, but it does open up some interesting musical windows and the way that Boyd ties things together and shows how musical ideas evolve and move around is fascinating.

If you were a fan of Richard Haslop's late Wednesday night show on SAFM, sadly a thing of the past now, then you may find this very interesting.

The comparison to Haslop is actually apt. Both men have musical tastes remarkable for their breadth and leave me wondering how the hell you get around to listening to all this stuff in one lifetime.

That one came a bit out of left field Mr Squonk - I'm impressed!

Allman Brothers - Live at Fillmore East

There is no appropriate awe smiley.

Edit: I am literally weeping at the brilliance on display.

The breathtakingly wonderful compositions contained on the album Exempt by TJ Helmerich & Brett Garsed :woohoo: :bopping: :woohoo:

Dug out a bunch of old LP's last night, and after freaking myself out with War of the Worlds, I cam across one I have had for a while, but never listed to.

It was Caravanserai by Santana. Him and Neil Schon on guitars... very...70's is the way I think I'd put it.

make-and-do

Mitchell Froom - Dopamine
Gang of Four - Entertainment

Listening to Outworld, old Rusty Cooley's band. Rather one dimensional, killer riffs, but keyboard and guitar mostly playing unison. Not a fan of the power metal styled vocals, but that guy can belt it out. Not entirely k*k.

Linda Thompson - Fashionably Late

This was her comeback album after years of being physically unable to sing. There are lots of folks named "Thompson" involved - son Teddy on most tracks, daughter Kami, the omnipresent (well it seems that way sometimes) Danny and even, on one track, her ex. A star-studded supporting cast gives some inspiration of the respect in which she is still held. The voice is unmistakable and still strong.

Edit: This is a fabulous sounding record. Good dynamic range, all the instruments cleanly recorded, a good vocal sound and generally a restrained approach to studio fairy dust.

Edit2: Aha! No wonder.... it looks like somebody talked John Wood out of retirement for this project.

Funny enough the vocals pretty much ruined this for me as well. I will agree the riffs are definitly the high point, most of them are killer. The solos well, they're Rusty Cooley :-[...
