dee Giggsy wrote dee wrote Listening to a little band called Yellow Custard Matter doing their thing. That is Paul Gilbert, Mike Portnoy, Neal Morse and Matt Bissonette doing Beatles covers ? Do they do straightforward covers or is it more a Me First and the Gimme Gimme's type of thing? I have not heard a lot of it yet, as I only found out about it yesterday, but it seems pretty straight forward, but with their own touch of course:
giggsy Stratisfear wrote Shed Seven - Changegiver This album really had an impact on me when it came out, and I still find it just as good. Missing Out is still one of the saddest songs I have ever heard.
make-and-do A Place to Bury Strangers - A Place to Bury Strangers Barry Adamson - Oedipus Schmoedipus Brian Wilson - Smile
giggsy Stratisfear wrote The Boo Radleys - Giant Steps Going through a bit of a semi-Britpop phase? Funnily enough, I was playing along to Wishing I Was Skinny, If You Want It, Take It and I Hang Suspended on the weekend 8)
Squonk Stratisfear wrote The Boo Radleys - Giant Steps Brilliant Stuff, I havent thought about them for at least 10 years ?
Keira-WitherKay tele maestro jim capilonga .solo his new cd "orange" and his work with "the little willy's" ( nora jones side project )
Bob-Dubery Another tele maestro. Bill Frisell - The Best of Bill Frisell, Vol 1: Folk Songs Frisell lives at an interesting intersection of jazz and country. The "folk songs" turn out to be mostly original, not necessarily that old and all country-ish. Frisell has a great sense of melody, and like an old-fashioned jazz player he fits his improvisations into the greater structure of the song. He uses a very deep modulation effect at times, but it doesn't detract or distract from what he's doing. The tele, the hybrid picking and the double stops all suggest a country player. His attitude is very jazz. No use trying to decide if he's jazz or country, just accept that he's Bill Frisell and sit back and enjoy it. I don't have the sleeve handy and thus can't list or identify all the side men, but one of my favourite players and long-time Frisell collaborator Greg Leisz is very obvious on some tracks, and I'm pretty sure I heard Jerry Douglas on a couple more. Lots of good playing.
