mmm found a great classical player ... obscure and possibly up and coming but Norbert Kraft plays beautifully and did an album /cd of 19th century guitar favourites...... with a mix of romantica guitar composer Fernando Sor , also Sor's his friend and fellow composer teacher at the time ... Aguado and the album/cd ends with a few pieces from Tarrega who was the first composer to write specifically for the first torres designed guitars...(torres took he 19th century design which was much quieter and smaller and with a very balanced volume from treble to bass.......... then torres increased the scale length from 628 mm to the accepted modern classical standard of 650 - 660 mm also redesigned the braces... and made a deeper body and hence a louder more articulate guitar )
below is a typical 19th century guitar like Sor would have used also Arguado
now compare it to a still original torres guitar ........... this guitar pictured is from 1856 it seems by the label
so yeah a great cd to listen to especially as it highlights the music that was happening just before the changing point when the classical guitar was redesigned by torres... and amazingly his design remains exactly as we know classical guitars today and the last piece of the cd is music where the advantages of the new guitar design is actually used in the composition .... and the technique shifted to adapt to the louder fuller, more bass heavy tone
so way interesting if you have an ear or interest in where this whole guitar thing came from
