What tune in your playlist/radio are you listening to currently? I'm digging Danzig so far.

Oh I get it, his name is Paisely and he's got paisley on his guitar. I thought it was quite a daring (improbable) design, but it makes sense now.

There is a long and honorable (well) history of paisley telecasters going back to the late 60s.

Here is the great James Burton playing his paisley tele.

Here's a close up shot of the beauty, the glory that is the paisley telecaster

That guitar is so 60's rock and roll!
I like it!

hey bret ... i kid you not buy the paisley tele and wear the hat and make it twang there will be a market for you right here in SA
the coutry scene here is massive and iknow 2 muso's who make a killing as in a real killing doing the "heee haaa" scene

oh and btw i may kid about coutry genre .......... but in my travels i got to see some amazing acts ......... with blistering guitar at high speed and all totally clean tele into a twin reverb type clean amazing skill...with no overdrive to help blur the notes so control is incredible

actually saw some guys do ZZ tops sharp dressed man with clean guitar and a country rhythm section heheheh and it rocked........... i'll try find it on you tube......

so yeah bret go for ..... i love teles and would also take a pink paisley tele if i found one at a good price............

Well, when I was young and spake as a child, it was not so hip to be into the country thing. In fact it was all the rage to knock it. Even more so the boeremusiek thing. It's not the case for me anymore and I have found that I love this country thing. Not all of it ne. I mean these guys and girls that warble their heimwee liedjies just give me a pain in the arse but there is such good stuff and talent. Ja well, as they say, "elke brommer op sy eie drol".

My Buddy Whittington cd arrived this morning after waiting 3 weeks...

Wow... Buddy is the new master... ?

Oh and there was a Derek Trucks Songlines Live DVD inside too ? We know what that is all about...

Loudon Wainwright III History

The songwriting on this is strong and sometimes audacious. Wainwright goes for subject matter that most wouldn't touch - spanking his daughter, being a man, wanting to not want somebody - and yet he keeps it all human and compassionate. As is often the case he finds a way to build a song around an episode in his own life but yet tap into some kind of universal experience that the listener can relate to.

I have the Songlines CD and it's too grand. Not sure what the DVD is all about but it has gone onto my wishlist so long and will remain there until you tell us more about it.

Good one Arjun, I'm listening to Dream Theater as well!
The new CD is great!

Porcupine Tree - Fear of a Blank Planet.

It's my first attemp at PT, battling a bit with the vocals, but very interesting rhythms and song compositions.
Sort of Pink Floyd inspired songwriting, but the vocalist is bit closer to Peter Gabriel (Genesis era) in the way he sings.

to sum it up it would be Pink Floyd vs Metal vs Peter Gabriel, but that's just this album

Awesome stuff man. I was listening to The count of Tuscany earlier (i assume you meant Black Clouds & Silver Linings)..and it kills! \m/

Right now, its a rainy afternoon in Kinshasa (and can't head out because the roads are death traps that haven't been fixed since Ali's Rumble in the Jungle) and i'm listening to Groove epidemic by Richie Kotzen & Greg Howe

Porcupine Tree - In Absentia

This is my second stab at Porcupine Tree. This album has more of a metal edge to it.
It's almost bordering on Dream Theatre but with a bit more progressive undertones and possibly better creativity.
I am still undecided about the vocals, not really my cup of tea.

But all you Dream Theatre fans, have a listen to Porcupine Tree.

A band called 'Funeral Mist' (Black Death). Quite interesting. My quest to understand (every now and then!) Black / Death / Black Death metal proceeds with the shakey, tentative steps ...fearful and sometimes horrified at how really awful some of it is. But now and then ... well ..

Found any you liked/appreciated yet?

Well I've already got and like Satyricon - thats apparently Black Metal Rock... So maybe a bit tame. Bits of Nile and bits of Dark Funeral ... I hear it all day in the back ground. Have you also been trying or have you got it? Im just amazed at how much of it there is but how little we hear or know of it in the main. Sometimes wonder whether its because its a bit like bubblegum - easy to produce once you have the right lineup. Or is it just cause its so evil sounding /looking? It can't be easy to perform - the precision is quite amazing.
