RobK Listening/watching the Stratpack DVD - the 50 years of the strat bash in London(I believe) and I think that Ronnie Wood just played a song using a guitar with Gibson written on the headstock ?
Ray Winging their way over the water to me is The Blasters and Rev Horton Hood. So that is an advance post for later in Jan, ne.
Squonk Wife got me the new RyG new album at Look and Listen, took it back and swopped for Monte Montgomery's Live at Work Play. He gets monster tone from an acoustic guitar. He is not an acoustic guitarist in the pure sense of the word. He plays the acoustic like and electric guitar. It's incredible stuff, After seeing clips of him on Youtube, I just had to get an album. Have a go, you never Know
Bob-Dubery Folk, Blues and Beyond by Davy Graham This is still pretty cool now, despite the dated recording. I'm trying to imagine what this must have been like in 1963 when Graham was busy rewriting the book on acoustic guitar. The opening track is "Leavin' Blues", a reworking of a Leadbelly song. Graham speeds it up, plays it in DADGAD and adds a whole load of Indian and Arabian sounding licks. That must have got some attention back then.
Jack-Flash-Jr X-rated Bob wrote Ray wrote Sometime back I got a CD Black Crowes - Southern harmony companion or something like that. I've got that one. It's their 2nd album and a big step up from their first, largely because of the change of lead guitarist. I think it's Mark Ford on that album. They really have that whole two guitar thing cracked. Do yourselves a favour and procure Amorica... their best by far. New one isn't too bad (Before the Frost), recorded live in studio with audience but the tunes are not as rifftatastic as I like the Crowes to be.
[deleted] Just got this... This fellow makes some of the best sounds to come out of an electric guitar ever... It has to come from deep down.. Derek Truck is so talented! Love it

Monster player! ?
DonovanB I've been giving the John Mayer album a shot. It's still boring, although some of the songs are growing on me. It is missing that spark and has a bland cover of Crossroads.
