I know it's irrational, but I reckon we should have a thread where you can post links to guitars you want real bad, and guitars you think are just downright sexy. I'll [obviously] go first.... Its not aGibson or Epiphone but still looks good.

How sweet is that guitar though? <3

Hey Cellie, those PRS Acoustics are simply beyond drool-worthy. I would get one in a flash if and when they become available here. Also see.......

Hahahah, you're right bud..... but dreams are for free, and I never stop dreaming...hahahha.....and then again, who knows, should I ever win the lotto like the guy in Polokwane who won it twice!!!!! R11m, and then again 2 weeks ago R33m, I would know EXACTLY what my first stop on a spending spree would be !!! ? ? ....... Maryland, USA.

That Maingard is also simply awesome!!! So maybe a trip to CT........ ?

X-rated Bob wrote This morning I played a Phoenix C10 - like the one in the picture but no cutaway. This is the most amazing guitar I have ever played. It is from another galaxy and it is beautiful to behold.

If I had a spare R45K....

Ha! Turns out the guy I dealt with last week was not up to speed. Sticker price for that guitar is R79 999! Sure you can beat them down some from that, but even so...

Cellie

Moon Guitars - Glascow Rose. ?

Give's it naauwww!

You don't see tonewood like this very often...

And look at how nicely the bindings and purfling are done

That wood is "Ancient Kauri". Kauri is still available, but this wood is taken from a log that had lain under water a long, long time.

The top is also Kauri, but newer and from regular stock. Note that it doesn't have the spectacular figure.

Yours for just USD 22500 (knocked down from 30000)

*EDIT*
Read about Ancient Kauri HERE. This tonewood is thousands of years old!

Wow, the strings also look 1000's of year old in that last pic ?

It's an incredible thing. Most wood exposed to air that long would be dust now.

Some custom builds ... which a distinguished member of this forum pointed my nose to:

Two beautiful old Gibsons

A 1968 L-50

A 1911 Style O

Lovely.

But what's the deal with the tail piece? I can see something that looks like a trapeze tail piece as Gibson often used, but also there's a wooden block there, back of the bridge, with flat-top style bridge pins in it.

i am not a huge gibson or epiphone fan , but i really like the look of these bad boys , i actually want one .

singemonkey

Looks a bit like the old Epiphone Coronet (I think it was called).

No idea. Maybe the metal tail pieces add their own timbre that they wanted to convert into something more woody?

This is GAS worthy... A DBZ Bolero

Really like the fold!

AlanRatcliffe

That's basically a Dean Soltero. Not surprising since Dean Zelinsky designed the Soltero and now runs DBZ... Always liked that line..

singemonkey

Lovely. Slightly prefer the DBZ headstocks.
