Your interpretation of 80/ early 90's video game background music.
Think Nintendo, Think SEGA, Think Atari or the original Arcade Coin Ups.
Very wide range of sounds to go for :
Action / RPG / Puzzle / Sports
As long as you can have this in the background while the game is running...

So pretend you have been hired to design background music for a certain level.
The first idea that comes to mind for me is a platform game
Contra , Mario, or the shoot-em ups ?

Haha yes I remember it, it was a lot of fun.andrewjbryson wrote: Does anyone remember Elevator Action???
Others I enjoyed were Wrecking Crew, Paperboy and Ice Climber.
He, He ... Good one Andrew! Gives me an excuse to listen to the tracks Bumblefoot did for the WIld Woody soundtrack. ?
The only niggle I see with this is the modern games, they all have proper soundtracks - Bullet For My Valentine, Bad Religion, etc... makes it kinda generic. I guess you need to really play something that will get votes though. ?
I agree Spyke
Andrew does state "Your interpretation of early 80/90's video games" , So it must sound cheesy/electronic etc.
Must imgine Mario jumping over things ?

I used to be such a hack and copy random code from the "HELP Index" and made my own lame ass games
I used to make little songs too , and push my PC Speaker to the MAX lol
I remember writing games in pascal and using mod files from the then demo scene downloaded from bbs bulletin boards . I made a lpt soundcard that was popular with the mod files with a hand full of resistors and a parrele conector . miss dem days .
Not sure on the rules, but can I record my guitar over the games midi track? I don't have the time to make the
drum track.

General weekly competition rules:
- Entries must be original compositions. No soloing over someone else's track and no covers.
- Only four instruments. Added voice is usually allowed as a "freebie" (in an effort to get our members out of their singing shells).
- Duration must be no longer than a minute. This makes it easier for voters to download lots of entries.
