From Performing Musician, news of the recently launched new SHURE studio mics.

Shure rarely announce new recording mics, mainly because they’ve had most bases covered with their product range for decades. So the fact that they’ve released a raft of new mics since the beginning of this year is quite significant. What’s more, the announcement of a home-studio gizmo and the acquisition of a well-known studio brand has got lots of people intrigued about the future developments of the company. Read on for more details

In a related product announcement, Shure have made available a device that provides this XLR-to-USB conversion technology in stand-alone form. The cleverly named X2U has an XLR input and a USB output, permitting any mic, including those that require phantom power, to be plugged directly into your Mac or PC. As with the USB mics, the X2U has D-A conversion on-board linked to a headphones feed. It costs £104.

The USB adapter looks cool.. But as for the mics.. Im not too shure ? They are actualy all just revamped from the KSM range, so not new mics in that it's a 'NEW' series. Nice to have them in the SM range though.. More suitable for stage use, but as for new.. I'm not sold. And the PG mics are just to expand in a range where there is ever growing preasure from other mic companies that sell low cost, decent quality mics.

Whilst I'm on the PG range.. utter C#*p >☹ Used a PG58 the other day.. I didn't have my mic box with me.. It's useless, can't take high SPL's, and here Shure want's to say, a cheaper version of a SM58.. jip, it's cheaper, but rather fork out a bit more cash and BUY a real SM58.
