Hello...

My name? You can just call me "Eddie S."

I've been playing guitar for longer than most of you have been alive - sad thing is, most of you are probably better at it than I am! I don't say that to garner any sympathy, just to state a likely fact; I know my limitations. I'm amazed by Steve Vai's technical command over the instrument - a guitarist friend of mine once put it this way, "I'm not sure which it is: either he's not playing guitar, or I'm not!" - but I consider Joe Satriani among my favorite guitarists - no less technically excellent, but I find his music to be more accessible. My main thrust is songwriting, anyway, and playing guitar is mostly a way to facilitate that end.

I endeavor, however (You see that? It rhymes!),
To play on guitar what I hear in my mind,
And that's been my goal for a long, long time.
(Honestly, I didn't spot the rhymes in that sentence until I was done with it. When I had, I did tweak it a little to smooth out the meter. The idea of this IS to introduce myself, right? Well, that's me!)

The reason I've come to this forum at this time is to get some help with a guitar-building project. I love to design things (if you go to theclockasart.com, you'll get an idea of what I mean), but the journey from images to reality is nothing if not challenging! I see that some of the people here have done custom guitar work - some very nice custom guitar work, too - and I hope to be able to get answers to a few questions that have come up.
