The best selling amp overall...is a Fender headphone amp, The Mustang Micro 🤯

Released earlier this year, the new Fender Mustang Micro is a non-traditional amp, but it's no surprise why it's a winner. It may look like a simple headphone amp, but this little guy packs an incredible 12 effects and 12 amp emulations in an enclosure slim enough to fit into your pocket. It can also be used as a USB interface, which is awesome, and costs a little over $100 USD, which is even better.

The Boss Katana 50W is 2nd a nd the Positive Grid Spark is 3rd. They don't give sales figures, which would be super interesting - I'd like to know how many AC15/Blues Deluxes/valve amp were sold vs the top 3.

The top seller in pedals surprised me. I know it's a excellent pedal, but a compressor as the top seller? I'm growing suspicious of the 'average' reverb buyer - I suspect they all either listen to John Mayer, Khruangbin or the pandemic made people realize they miss BB King (I sure do!),

2nd place was the ditto looper and 3rd was the Line 9 HX Stomp (at $500, that's impressive - it put the Boss DS-1 into 4th place).

WIthout sales numbers, there's not many conclusions to reach - The mustang micro @ around 100USD, super portable and a audio interface? That is a interesting prospect - if it sounds decent? Also the $500 HX Stomp outselling most pedals is -at first- bizarre to me. But I am a bit of a multifx geek and being able to add some multifx versatility to your rig makes perfect sense - the Zoom HS-50G Multistomp gets a lot of love for that kinda thing - at 1/5 the price...

Whaddya think?

Vox AC15 C1 in the top 10..I wonder how much this is due to You Tube influencers ?

These microamp jobbies always surprise me in terms of sales.
I would have thought that playing through vsts or using amps with IRs would have been more popular.

Cerise Good question! The katana hype was sooo loud I thought it had to suck. But the 50W I used was pretty much exactly as described. Still, happy to see something with valves in it.

guidothepimmp hrough vsts or using amps with IRs would have been more popular.

I'm really keen to try out the fender one, the idea of pre-eq'ed amps is oddly appealing to me. The demo's I heard were good, reverbs even caught my ear.

One thought on IR's - I've found it tough to find a good one, especially for distorted guitar.

As the years stacks up, I am definitely agreeing more and more with the guitar teacher - find the easiest way to play and you'll play more - so the few things I have to maintain, plug in, re-string, etc... the more I'll play?

V8 i admittedly havent tried many IRs. When I got the 2Notes Captor, i got access to the 2Notes IRs. Have to say i am quite impressed with them. They are also very configurable. So happy days

V8 did you not hear any harshness in the sound ? . what sold these were the modelling patches you could down load to the amp. I have a Roland Cube 40 from 2011 ..that sounds harsh compared to my Vox AC10

Harshness on the Katana? Hmm, not at reasonable volumes. Maxed out, a little brittle - but we did have two drummers bashing away on cymbals at the jam, so it was properly loud - sat n the mix better than a Fender Excelsior next to it (imho).

I would like to say that a good AC10 (my mate has a 60's vintage one) is a fine, fine sound. One of the few valve amps that has headroom for a big yet relatively cleaner sound.

For me, daily use - I'd have a katana. For that special moment, the AC10.
