  • Gary Moore sound

General question: What sound effect pedal(s) do I need to produce Gary Moore's lead sound in the song Still got the blues?
I have a 2003 USA Strat; a Peavey XRD-680 amp; a Zoom G1X pedal and a Boss Fuzz pedal.
Thanx!

Adding to Johnny's link and thinking about your gear

You'd want a humbucker

and

I'd try and dial in the Zoom to get a Marshall-y tone (a tube scream/marshall guv'nor in front of a Marshall JTM w/ 4x12 seems to be the default rig to model).

I'd use the amp as flat as possible (no gain & eq from amp) to let the Zoom do as much modelling as possible without the amp colouring it (Multix like full range amps). Though this may be tricky, guitar amp speakers colour tone, it's part of their design - you'll find a decent set of headphones will likely get you closer.

But that meaty sustain without a humbucker...? Possible, but probably not as satisfying.

I wud definitely say click the link to the video in ur post Meron 😃 . that channel, Direct Recording Guitar, are one of the most accurate folks on Y/t that show how to sound like 'xxxxx' with whatever fx unit. other than checking the video out I would definitely second picking up a humbucker to install. one in the neck position wud work great too. they key thing to keep in mind that while you listen to his recordings or a track like 'Still got the blues' and you think its a really saturated tone (gain maxed out on the amp) its actually more of a valve distortion, power amp section maxed out thing 😀
