V8 - was the difference in reverbs intentional?
So my goal was to try and have the guitar sound like a single voice, and the pipes like a choir which is why I doused it in reverb - there are also some extra vst-provided strings fairly low in the mix to try and beef it up.
V8 A bit odd to have it end suddenly though, might have had some delay's tailing off
Yeah, fair, I couldn't figure out how to end it, and I kinda just ended it. I have a couple of failed attempts at a big crescendo with a sudden stop still living in my reaper project but I couldn't pull off something that sounded good.
I guess I was hoping for something that ended like this:
but I couldn't figure it out.
All in all this track was a difficult birth for me, I kinda got stuck back when @Meticus posted the original track, and I guess I couldn't really figure out a B section for the rhythm guitars. When the mantra challenge popped I figured I could get away without a B section 🙂, but I still feel it needs something. Would be great to get some feedback from you okes pretending to have a producer hat on.
@Meticus was great partner here though - provided the actual composition and then was kind enough to re-record the pipes given the much reduced tempo of the melody.
Anyway enough blabbing:
@guidothepimmp top quality track here mate - well made, awesome guitar sounds and I think it fit the challenge well, got my vote.
@studmissile I think yours did the best as an instrumental bulid-up, my only criticism is that the first half feels a bit sterile, but I think that might be because of the midi-ness. Warms up nicely once the guitar comes in.
@V8. Jealous of your ability to use the delay that well. I usually make a f*kup and then it haunts me repeating for the next couple of bars. I guess the least mantra-y to my ear (again depending on how you define mantra), but I love the sounds you got.
