Welcome to Part 1 of the Guitar Talk LoCkDoWn Challenge!

Thanks to @Yeti for this challenge topic. Usually we would let the winner of the last challenge choose...but in these -ahem- interesting times, we'll postpone that until we've done with this...!

Using one of the backing tracks below, You'll have 5 days to come up with something, 2 days to vote and after the three rounds - we'll have some weekly winners and a overall winner.

Now, @Yeti was thinking of us all doing solo's (hence the tracks all have drums, rhythm guitar and bass) - I'm going to expand on that to Leads &/or solo's. The difference is minor...but if all you can do is a rhythmic 'widdle-widdle' or flesh out w/additional something - do it. It's not about showing off, it's about staying sane and tickling your creativity. Bass solo', german bagpipes or whatever mayhem you choose to unleash...well...let's do itttt!

Though if you want to dive a little deeper into the world of solo'ing and constructing a Solo, this is a most excellent-est opportunity. Which is what this face ripping brilliant thread by @evolucian is all about. Really...dive into that thread of goodness, it's all gravy. While he's been super scarce, this knowledge continues to be a gift that gives - thanks Evo - hope you are well!

📅 Entries Close: Sunday, 5th April 2020, 23:59PM

📜Rules: Entries to be max one (1) minute in length. You have to use one of the provided backing tracks. We'll have two groups "DAW" and "Live Jam" For the DAW category, use your toys, but noodling/solo'ing is to be one track only (in addition to the backing track). For Live Jam, just crank up the backing track and record using cell phone (or similar device equipped with a mic). "Live Jam" is for the interfaceless/plug-in-less of us.

⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply. If possible, please make your track public - that way I can make a playlist up - it's easier for everyone to go through all the tracks - thanks!

🏅Prizes: No prizes...but @Yeti did float the idea of a grand prize for the person with most votes over the three round. Something about a pack of toilet paper...Hmm, colour me amused. Though there is still the fame and glory of winning a GuitarTalk Challenge.

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too. Collaborations with fellow members or anyone you can recruit is encouraged!

Below are the loops for you to use & abuse - have fun peeps! Also, since we're going to try have three rounds of this, should you have a loop you'd like to contribute, please do so in this thread

Many thanks and Happpppyy Jammin'!

V8 - Anthem Loop

BPM: 110
Length: 24 Bars
Key: E minor (I think!) .

4 Bars of drumless pre-chorus, 16 Bars (drums, bass, guitars) of chorus, 4 bars of funky sh1t (it wouldn't be me any other way).

The (pre) & chorus is - E5, G#/A, A5, G5, F#/G.
Or if I try and explain it in words (because my theory knowledge is kak!)
E5= E powerchord,
G#/A = G power chord with the root down a fret (4th fret low e string),
A5 = A powerchord (you move your index finger up a fret from previous chord)
G5 = G powerchord
F#/G = G powerchord with your index finger dropping the root down a fret.

Yeti - Lockin Back Track

BPM: 120
Key: Amin

Here's my rough and ready backing track contribution. Chord progression as follows:
Am E7 F C E7
Am E7 F C G
Am E7 F C E7
Am E7 F G

Am G F C E7
Am G F G

Guidothepimmp - Groove Loop

BPM: 100
Key: A

Its a run of the mill rock groove
Quite simple,
A, G, D - verse
A, C, D - Chorus
A, G, F# something or other for the weird break

Basically a Tele into a Vox AC
Has a verse (A, G, D), a chorus (A, C, D), and then the break in key of A as well, presumably where the whiddly bits would go

... I think.

Studmissile - Stud's Lockdown Loop

BPM: 132
Key: G

V8 german bagpipes or whatever mayhem you choose to unleash

Almost sounds like a personal invitation 😅
I think I'm in again. Time is short, but I see what I can manage the next days.

V8 Yeti - Lockin Back Track

Fits perfectly for my pipe 😀

Stoffeltoo Rock fusion, space left for guitars, enjoy

That track is also interesting for me, but I cannot download it for the DAW.

Meticus Almost sounds like a personal invitation

Hehe, I wanted to flush out any other bagpipes from their hiding places...I do like to keep the smiles going though. Glad to have you aboard!

Meticus That track is also interesting for me, but I cannot download it for the DAW.

Ahhh, the tracks I published are the tracks for this week's challenge - I'll que up Stoffeltoo's for next week's challenge.

@Stoffeltoo - My man, can you check this post for directions on how to make you track downloadable. As I said, I'll que this up for next week's challenge. Yeti & I are aiming at 4 tracks/per week. Thanks!

Yesterday was such a beautiful day, pleasantly warm, blue sky and friendly sun. Perfect day to sit inside in a dark chamber and spend the after-work hours with recording some bagpipe tracks (or better: unleash a little German bagpipe mayhem) 😀
Thanks to @Yeti for that convenient background 😀
So, here my track for the next challenge (DAW group)... volume of the pipe is a bit lower this time and the guitar stands out a bit more (however the end of the bagpipe track is indeed a little icepicky, but I'm sure you will overcome xD).

Meticus that's very cool... although I think the timing on your rhythm guitar is a bit off. 😛

Warts n all - it's a live jam entry. Used Guido's track, I tried all four - went for Stud's first, I liked the idea of G as a change up from the familiar keys I use (A & E) - but just didn't feel it (sorry Stud!) . So went through them all and Guido's just worked - liked the flow of it, really enjoyed coming up with bit that worked over it - thanks for the Jam Guido, was a fun 'un! 😋

Slight plot twist, I used headphones to monitor the backing track and sync;ed up to the original track in Reaper. It's just that much easier to get something listenable.

Used the nylon strung pimpocacster through a Roland GR-S pedal on 'the'hammond organ' patch, Doubled the guitar part for the first 4 bars, then used caged major shapes to flesh out the next four bars and then tried to let loose. And fell on my face...F*&ing low tension strings and rusty fingers 😁
