So the day is here and the deals are dropping!
Bothners have something on sale, though I can't really tell you what exactly. The website isn't easy to trawl through all the deals on offer. Boo!
Decent deals on brands they distribute (Fender, Cort, Ernie Ball, etc...)
Raru have a bunch of deals up, including things that didn't sell out during the week. Nothing blowing my hair back - but a couple of interesting things are good prices (Alesis Mesh e-Kit, Blackstar Fly mini amp, Orange O-Bass)
Marshall have some deals, including a Gibson Tribute LP SPecial and Taylor GS mini. Like Bothners figuring out what's on special ain't easy. In fact, I never noticed their shop front-end looks very, very similar...hmmm. Well if you are looking at a new Gibson, they're the peeps to talk to.
TOMS do have some deals but nothing I'm gonna scream about. Interesting news is that Mars Cape Town CBD is now a TOMS store - good news for the Cpt peeps and next years TOM"s sale which is usually better than Black Friday.
And Takealot have some bits on sale, Not a great selection, but I reckon it's mostly Bothners fulfilled...which means if you head into a Bothners they'll be able to beat that price. If you are looking for the cheapest Squire, this is the place (R1599)
Music Experience also have a Black Friday sale - though I'm not convinced the majority of the prices are actually special. Think there's one or two gems (certain colours) hiding in their lists of things.
Overall....Hmm, to me it's much the same as last year. Slightly better pricing than "sale time' but not much that's outrageously cheap. - though I think some retailers definitely put more effort in (Bothners, Raru) to try and get tempting deals. Do keep an eye on Bothners & Raru they still have deals droppng today and through the weekend.
Definitely did notice a bit of RRP price tomfoolery going on - that is compared to during the year, RRP's on certain items have risen - makes the Black Friday special all the more special. Most retailers are doing it, so I can't really single out anyone in particular..,.
Personally I think it's a good time to buy new (if you must), trawl online stores for deals, then head into a bricks n mortar and see if they can beat the deals - the salesspeeps generally have more leeways during sale time.
Happy Shopping!
