Black Friday 2019 at Raru.co.za - What are you looking for??

I'm Andrew and I head up Musical Instruments on Raru.co.za.

If you've shopped with us before you'll know Black Friday is always a pretty big deal and I'm working hard on getting some amazing things for this years event.

Just curious about what you gear heads will be looking out for or any kind of back & forth we can get going.

Great job at Raru. You guys have convinced me to part with cash a few times ?

Me personally.. i missed out on the killer Taka-mini deal last time around. I'll be keeping my beady eyes open for a similar deal.

Always keep a casual eye on cables and strings too.. but if im honest.. i try buy those from the local store. It helps them.. and gives me a reason to go ogle guitars and amps.

Edit.. is there any criteria used to select what amps you offer? All great brands.. more curious about the models. Example. I dont think i have ever seen a Marshall Jubilee in the offering.

guidothepimmp Guido! Amps are pretty much listed from what we can get through local suppliers. The only Jubilee item I picked up was the 2551AV 4x12 cab. Generally though if there's anything not listed on the site we can definitely check in with suppliers to look at special ordering for us, as long as it's still in production obviously ?

There are still some brands I don't have access to unfortunately, some brands like PRS don't allow sales through online only retailers.

So yeah any queries if there's something you can't find or a query on a price you can get me at info@raru.co.za and just mark the e-mail att:Andrew so it'll get to me quicker.

Hi @AndrewRaru and welcome... I've seen people lamenting that the specials are too good at Raru and they are once again finding themselves having to drop cash on the sales... hahahaha.

I'm watching for good deals on midi controllers/keyboards

I'd actually like to see something at a truly special price...that's clearly at or below distributors cost. That's what Black Friday meant to me, blow-out deals that cannot be beat at any other time.

I was underwhelmed last year during the sale when there was just one deal that was pretty good (Cort acoustic w/hardcase @ R2299) otherwise every time the next batch of deals rolled around and there was nothing to even engage in some G.A.S talk.

Was curious, what happened to the great selection of SX guitars/basses? You had a great range, but now only the 3/4 size strat is listed.

V8 good morning! Yeah I can definitely understand that. It can be difficult to have a little something for everyone unfortunately. Though I can say so far I have a few really great things and even I couldn't really believe the pricing from some of the suppliers this year. Some of it is so-so I guess but definitely trying to put a good mix together. For us last year was a great success MI wise and to me it's looking like it'll be just as good or maybe a bit better now that the suppliers are catching on a bit more.

For the record we'll be kicking off deals on the Monday this year rather than the Wednesday. So from the 25th there will be deals going live and more added daily. Then on the actual Black Friday there will be a few batches going up every few hours. After that the last new batch will be for Cyber Monday.

Regarding SX guitars I'm honestly not too sure, our supplier there seems to have stopped bringing in stock. We've never sold a huge amount of them so I hadn't really noticed the decrease in availability, though I'll look into it and see if there might be a shipment coming in soon.

Very coool to know - that was a minor frustration last year, no-one really knew what Raru had planned - since Raru does take musical instruments a lot more seriously than takealot, I prefer to keep an eye on Raru just to see if something tempts me.

Not a beeg deal, it's just that I point beginners at a SX over anything else and Raru did have a really good range at prices that beat Squire Bullet/low-end Corts. I guess when MD/Bothners dump Squire Bullets and Corts at below 2k it's tough to move a lessor known brand at a similar price point (even though they are much better instruments).

I'd be interested in deals on any of these:

A crybaby mini wah pedal
A mini tube screamer pedal
A bcb-60 case
A 2x12 cab (or a crazy good deal on a combo valve amp with attenuation for bedroom practise?)

NorioDS What you could always do is get an amp that you want from Raru and then an attenuator from JP Le Roux. Not cheap but then you can go for any amp you want without needing to worry about built in attenuation as a selling point

Edit: also stuff Andrew helped me out with: Seymour Duncan Hot Rodded Humbucker set - originally was going to be an import but without asking, he checked with local suppliers, found a set in the country and offered to arrange that for me instead - saved time on delivery and provided another example of how great it is dealing with him ? Also, Raru is the only place I can reliably find my Dunlop Gator Grip 1.5mm picks so that's great too! (especially with the 'buy [x] for R[y]' deals on picks)

I would enjoy a new guitar, but no funds this year, I might consider the pay for four months deal on a nice Ibby RG, though.

I am wanting DiMarzio pickups, the PAF 36TH anniversary DP103BK and DP223FBK, with a Strat Red Velvet DP174 single coil. Worthwhile waiting for Black Friday, or will price not be lowered more? I was looking at Seymour Duncan APH's, but Seymour is also much Paymore...
