guidothepimmp Its hard not to love this. I always think of this as an SRV song.
Beat the Original Challenge!
klaasvakie I always think of this as an SRV song.
Heresy!!! ?
I couldn't really think of a SRV/Jimi cover I liked more than the original (All along the watchtower aside - that's a definite upgrade by Jimi). The closest one was Jimi's Killing Floor (apparently Led Zep's The Lemon Song, though I don't really hear the resemblance).
warrenpridgeon Gob - Paint it black
So far, my favourite. I had hopes for the five finger death punch version of "House of the Rising Sun" but...ermm, no. Godsmack's Come Together was real good, but not quite beating the original for me. Guano Ape's Big in Japan, was a near hit, great energy in the track - though the vocal phrasing was a tad odd for me.
How I forgot this one is a mystery...were I not loving on Shirley Bassey atm, this would have been #3.

Nathaniel Rateliff Shape I'm In (Original by the Band)
Beats Etta James..
Wellll, I've really enjoyed the 2nd batch of entries!....only a little bit of time left to go - I'll call 23:59PM on wednesday the deadline for any more entries (or changes).
Right now, the Chris Cornell cover of "Nothing Compares" is the hidden gem! Though I think Warren is 'leading' with GOB's paint it black.
Don't forget to like yer own track!
I'll give it a bash

Tuckstir even with the spoof CoB one.. had to add that.
haha, glad you did, that was cool!
Had it in my list at #5 - got me to learn the riff ages ago .Not that I remember it now...sigh
No Wierd Al tunes yet either...thought there'd be one or two.
I almost went overboard myself, but I'll keep my honorable mentions till after the fact.
