So, I have 8 different acoustic guitars, all and each of whom I Love very much. This morning I received my very first electric guitar from Bevan in George... a 1997 Korean Squire Strat. now I need an amp.
I am probably never going to play live on a stage again... but you NEVER know... ?

I would like to find the most versatile amp to enable me to explore my new guitar to its fullest extent. I thought maybe one of the new digital modelling amps will be the thing, seeing that I am only going to start by playing semi-quietly in my cottage, to myself and maybe a very select honoured guest. Yes, I understand the whole valve thing... and I get it.

so, in all your learned opinions... which would be the best choice taking value for money into account?: Fender Code 50, Boss Katana50, lINE 6 or VOX?

Thanx in advance
Peter

Allllll day long.

Sounds great with the acoustic module - so good my picky, audiophile, jazz playing friend said he'd happily gig one ?

I'm quite fond of the clean and crunch channel, if you dial it as the youtubers suggest, it's pretty fun blues/rock sound (and you have all the boss pedals you can setup via the software/laptop).

For many, It's not gonna replace a really good valve amp (Mesa Boogie 5:25 and up), but it's really impressive for the money. Personally - I'd prefer it over a Mesa for the versatility, but I'm a multifx kinda guy.

And I've started to see them from 3k on good condition 2nd hand.

If it was ONLY for cleans - the fishman loudbox is pretty darn good...

I'd have to agree with this. For me personally the major draw is the versatility and effects. I don't want to be stuck with 'one tone' forever. Having looked at many options I still come back to the Katana 50. I think the only thing it needs is a looper. Having said that - with the myriad of Boss stomp box and effects available, and the fact that it is programmable, I can look past the looper issue.
I am desperately trying to save up for one. I will pull the trigger without hesitation.

wern101 . I think the only thing it needs is a looper.

And a tuner...coincidentally two of the best selling products BOSS makes...

Also probably two of the more difficult things to package without making you buy a specialized pedal. So I'll give them a pass on that. ?

buttle When I got my first electric guitar, I rushed to Marshall Music and Stuart suggested the Blackstar ID:TVP 15. My guitar teacher helped me dial in a clean, rhythm and lead tone and it's been great. It also has a host of presets to explore, and purchasing the foot switch makes hopping between patches easy. You can plug it into your computer to fine tune patches, and there's also a library of user-created patches online. The 15W doesn't support midi, but if I remember correctly, the 30W and up ones do. Loads of fun!

Definately the Katana, or even a second hand Roland Cube 40

So I settled on a Vox VT40X, got a new one from Turnkey Music & Multimedia in Stijdom Park.

What a POWERHOUSE!!! Definitely the best choice for me <3 <3
