  • Garage Days 4 - Son of Garage Days

Morning all,

Thought I'd start a thread for our next jam session so that we can all spend our Christmas breaks learning the songs ?
It looks like January is going to be a busy month for me so I'd like to suggest putting the date on Saturday 2 February. Would that work for people?

I haven't given much thought to songs yet so I'll come back with a few suggestions a little later. Please feel free to add your own suggestions too.
I'll also check with drummer Nick about dates (need to get him onto the forum).

Who's keen on joining us this time?

(I've tried to tag people but just get a "You do not have permission to do that." error, so if anyone else can tag the usual suspects or anyone else who might be interested that would be great.)

Yeti I'd like to suggest putting the date on Saturday 2 February. Would that work for people?

Sounds good to me.

Yeti I've tried to tag people

Hopefully I've just fixed this. Give it a go and let me know if it's still an issue.

Looks like Nick is a tentative yes.

Tentative yes, not sure if I have anything on then.

Sounds like we've got the usual suspects at least on tentative. Anyone else is welcome of course, this isn't a closed group.

      A few suggestions for songs:
      Fortunate Son - CCR
Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit version
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica version

We can also play a couple of the songs that @guidothepimmp suggested for last month since he couldn't join.

... and of course we can fill up time with songs that have worked well in the past (e.g. sweet child, nothing else matters, house of the rising sun, zombie).

      thoughts?
      more suggestions?

      Morning gents,
Just a month until this jam so I thought I'd finalise the songs we're playing.
      New Songs:
      Fortunate Son - CCR
Behind Blue Eyes - Limp Bizkit version
Crazy Little Thing Called Love - Queen
Whiskey in the Jar - Metallica version
Just Got Paid - ZZ Top (since we didn't quite get to it last time)

      Repeats:
      Sixteen Saltines - Jack White
Sweet Child of Mine - Guns and Roses
Down in a Hole (Unplugged) - Alice In Chains
      House of the Rising Sun

I'll try to get printable versions of the chord sheets up in the next couple of days so that we're all singing from the same hymn book as it were. In the meantime though, here are full tabs for Sweet Child and Crazy Little Thing.

As always, I'll muddle through the rhythm guitar parts and can do any of the vocals... just not necessarily at the same time. ?
@Lu22 what would you like to sing this time?

Oh, and just as a point of order. If a song was originally played in different tuning (Whiskey in the Jar, Down in a Hole) we'll keep our tuning in E-standard and play the same chord shapes and tabs... so effectively transpose.

Uh for now just behind blue eyes i rate. Ill listen to the others and see which I can manage

Yeti @NorioDS have you chatted to Greg about the venue?

Ummm... of course I have. ?

Yeti Here are the lyrics and chord sheets.

          Handy dandy! Thanks ?

            NorioDS ?
And how's that walking bass line for crazy little thing coming? ?

Yeti And how's that walking bass line for crazy little thing coming? ?

Needs more practise! I've got a third of it memorised. Need to get the rest under my fingers and up-to-speed.

Will hopefully get a chance tonight while the missus is on a video call ?

It's not a easy one - I started learning it a few months back for that killer rockabilly line. At first glance it doesn't look tricky, but the feel and them fills at that speed...heish, reminded me of being in a djenty band ? `

Just realised that we didn't put a time for this. Assume it's 12:00 as before.
@NorioDS what time did you get the garage?
