@Jazzman105 and @Yeti have spoken - It's the festive season, so let's throw down a Xmas challenge!

? Entries Close: Sunday, 23rd December, Midnight. This is a PROVISIONAL deadline - I'm happy to push it to after Xmas (E.g. 30th?) if time gets away from you!

Updated Deadline : Sunday, 30th December, Midnight

?Rules: Only one rule, you have to have at least two melody instruments. Guitar and vocals, guitar and guitar, guitar and bass, dulcimer and harmonium - the choice is yours. As long as one is guitar-like (e.g. has strings), it's in!

Collaborations are strongly encouraged, either with a fellow GuitarTalk member or friends/family/etc...

Depending on how many entries we get - I may split voting into groups - I'm already thinking we'll have one for cellphone/lofi entries and one for more studio orientated entries.

⁉How To Enter: Record your entry, sign up or log in to SoundCloud, post it there. Then grab the SoundCloud link and reply here with the link pasted in your reply.

?Prizes: The fame and glory of winning a GuitarTalk challlenge. Whooop-whoop! And the dubious distinction of choosing the next challenge.

Anyone can enter this competition. You just need a guitar and a phone. But any other recording equipment is fine too.

...And one final meme for @NorioDS and me

Awesome, looking forward to this one. I tried to write something over the weekend but it went in a VERY different direction to what I was intending. Might still record it anyway but I'll give it another shot and see if I can come up with something a little more upbeat. ?

For everyone trying to write something for this, i found this site:

    https://songcraft.io/

which seems to be quite useful. If you are light on theory (like me), I find the chord suggestions really useful, and the rhyming/synonyms tab is good as well. Doesn't seem to be a way to tab out lead runs, but maybe they'll add it in future.

Jazzman105 I am sure they are.

I must admit I have had ZERO time to even think about this compo. Next week Thursday is last day at work and really hoping I can make some time before the 24th.

Jazzman105 Just to check... Are covers allowed?

Umm, I guess so? We did last time, so why not.

Happy to extend it to 30th - I'm also nowhere. Think I had an idea, but it went away as fast as it popped in my head...?

May inspiration appear for you guys. I do not like listening to the radio this time of year, I hate all the jingle-belly-under-the-reindeer-tree songs.

modulator last time I did a satirical version of 'Tis the season'... I may do something similar this year. Also dont like the 'classics' anymore. Overplayed X 1000000.
        Tis time for something new!!

+1. were it snowing I might feel differently...Probably not though!

I kinda had a idea yesterday - a mashup of covers I didn't get around to entering for a challenge a lonnnnggg time ago. Might just dust of and re-do - it's a fun thing to play.

Turns out sleigh bells are remarkably tiring... who knew?

          Anyone up for a extension?

I'd be turning in a archived entry otherwise ?

V8 Ja I think so. Busy 'coaching' my boys and their cousins to perform the 'Little drummer boy' at our Xmas eve dinner. May record the whole thing, add some guitar parts and submit that raw unedited version.

I was fantastically optimistic, but this is the one time I know that i won't be able to pull a rabbit out of my head at the eleventh hour. So I'm out gents. Please accept my apologies... ?

Okay Cool - have updated deadline to 30th - not sure if we'll get any entries, but if Santa drops guitar gear in your stocking, it's a good excuse to try it out... let's see...stranger things have happened!

If inspiration strikes, hit (the) record (button)! ?

I'm trying to finish a complete song of previous abbreviated Christmas idea I entered, but I can't seem to get the damn thing right.

A belated Merry Christmas and all the best for the New Year!

A belated Merry Christmas from me too. ?

Got it together just in time. My initial attempt ended up a lot more serious than I had intended (might still finish it sometime... but not now) so I put together something fun to sing with my family - sons 4 & 6 plus (very patient) wife.
          A couple of lessons...
          1) Sleigh bells are hard
          2) Working with children is harder ?
