PROJECT GUITAR - Krammer 300HST
guidothepimmp Thats a lot of work right there.. hats off to you.. that will look awesome on the back at the belly carve
the more I worked on it.. the less i liked it.. so out came the sander..
was liking the green and yellow.. so stuck with them.
I have applied my first layer of sealant.
another hiccup. discovered..
I was intending on leaving the scratch plate as is.... that is until I looked at it more closely. and realized it has extra holes in it. looks like somebody in the past fitted and single-coil slanted style. as I am intending to make this as to spec hardware side as I can get, with out breaking the bank, and I am intending on getting an Seymour Duncan JB Trembucker TB-4 .I need to fill those 2 extra holes.
baking soda and super glue here we come.
Baking soda and superglue is what i would have done too.. good call

Thanks.. its something I've Known about for some time.. but today was the first time I've actually tried it..
after gluing
after sanding
painted
Great result! Well done

Nice one! Very interesting choice in colour you went with. On the note of sealant - (Noob alert) - What would be the difference in sealant VS normal 'varnish' (I ask without having done research)

Flip. Didn't know this could be done!! Amazing!

Yeh man.. baking soda and superglue works especially well for nuts that have been cut too deep.
Im partial to the royals baking powder in the maroon tin ?

that's exactly where I saw it done first..

This whole project has been Me lead to a direction the Guitar wants to go..its actually quiet funny.. I decide to take a direction... and end up going the complete opposite way.. but my best guitars are like that..

thats a very Interesting queastion.. why one coat vs the other..
EVERY finish you add effects the tonal quality of your Guitar.. all though maybe not to the degree of wood selection.. it has an impact..
For me it was the fact that varnish does not penetrate the wood, is hard and brittle and has a tendency to crack over time. so will need to be redone every so often..
Sealnt does penetrat the wood to a small degree, and also "feeds the wood" is a hard and durable finish without the cracking and brittlnes of varnish..
but it is well worth the time to do your research.. there are more options than just varnish/paint sealant.
there is also
penetrating oils like teak oil
tru-oil
penetrating wax's
linseed oil
etc
each have there own pro's and cons
V8 Besides by 2019 tedibear would have made 4 and re-done the finish on all of them - at least once ?
Seems you weren't wrong. I haven't even finished the guitar yet.. and I've changed my Mind about 4 times in the last 2 weeks.... #Can'tMakeUpMyMind
so for the Latest and greatest change....SOFAR..
some teasers
so I've ended up with more of a distressed look
One of my Most Inspirational Quotes and poems i Know are from Frank Herbert's Dune Series.
“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
― Frank Herbert, Dune
Thats a nice touch and looks great
Tuckstir Wow, love it.
so finally got round to sanding my neck, there was a "small" Chip on the tip of the Head-stock.
Shaped and sanded..
there is still a blemish on the epoxy finish of the top of the headstock.. but with out removing the epoxy top and with it the logo its going to have to stay for now at-least. ( call me sentimental but I like the look of the logo )
Finalized all my finishing today.. the last was the spring cavity that got sprayed Matt black
So now Progress comes to a grinding halt.. Until my bank manager approves..
on my small list includes
New Floyd Rose
All new wiring, including caps, pots, switches, etc
New tremolo springs, strap buttons, copper shielding, new Screws
New Humbucker
Tuckstir New Floyd Rose
Eish... ?
Fortunately we have some very very very good guys right here enter @guidothepimmp
and I replaced a genuine Floyd Rose II with a Genuine Floyd. so keeping it as authentic as possible.
Thank you. you have been Very accommodating, and am super chuffed with it.
of coarse things are never just easy are they.. the new Floyd block was just too small, springs fowling up on the cavity
but this was easy to solve. strip both floyd's change the back blocks out
