Especially in the pedalboard thread. 1000 plus posts and no pages.
It loads everything from post 1. There has to be a better way.
No pages makes for a terrible browsing experience
You can click and scroll on the side also where the scale shows "original post" at the top and "now" at the bottom.
I find that useful.
except it wastes a shedload of data. so not useful.
Norman86 except it wastes a shedload of data. so not useful.
I guess so. I hardly pay attention to data usage.
I do agree that pages would be pretty useful so you could bookmark your progress on longer threads.
Damn... can't tag Norio here to ask if this forum has that capability.
Norman86 Really not sure, let's tag @NorioDS and see if he can help.
I have noticed (at least on desktop browsing) that the URL does store the number of the posts (Instead of pages), so you can bookmark from a post.
For example.
The root url for pedalboard (post 1) : https://community.guitartalk.co.za/d/8028-your-pedalboard
One of your post's in that thread (post 1002) : https://community.guitartalk.co.za/d/8028-your-pedalboard/1002
Also I find that it doesn't load the whole thread but caches posts as I go along - so if I started on post 1 but then used the slider thingy to shoot to the last post, the bits inbetween won't load till I try and view them. Though if you scrolled through every post manually (E.g. didn't use the slider), then it will load everything.
Sorry, not much can be done. You'll notice a lot of sites work like this these days. From Facebook and Twitter to some of the news sites. It's the new way things are done.
The nice thing is the forum remembers your spot, if you're working through a massive discussion. This software isn't perfect but it's the best way I can embrace the future of online communities. Bit by bit, we'll upgrade what we can until it's a more seamless experience.
For now, this is all we've got. Gotta make the best of it.
Is it possible to have the newer posts at the top with the older ones down the way?
I admit i avoid participating on the forum because of this too.
I'll be the first to say the old way was better.
Also probably why I'm spending less time on things like FB.
I'll look into doing these changes as personal settings. Might be possible but no ETA.
By the way, on mobile, the bar that lets you "fast forward" or "rewind" through posts is in the header.
Awesome.. thanks Norio
