I am looking for a Fishman Classica ii for my Fender 240-SCE Nylon String guitar. The guitar is about 5 years old and out of warranty. There is intermittent sound. I have checked all the wiring, and even resoldered all the joints in case of a dry joint. It works for a few minutes and then dies. The tuner still works when you press the button, so the battery is working, the pickup is working. I even bypassed socket in case that was the issue.

I tried contacting Fender South Africa via their Facebook page and no response.

    Aloo morph!

    Some options :

Chat to someone at bothners (Olly at Claremont is fairly good) to see if they can find you a warranty replacement part from Musical Distributors (Fender importers). They're fairly good with finding fender stuff.

Chat to someone at the gear junkie - unlikely they'll have something there, but you never know what pops in. I know their luthier does have some wierd and wonderful bits in his stash.

Bring something in from ebay (fishman stuff can be super cheap).

Thanks, will give them a call

+1 for ebay- providing you can find one that fits, buying stuff online is much cheaper than getting it here- I paid R300 for a Fishman isys+ pickup and pre-amp. Fishman's website has templates for the pre-amps, so you can check the cutout size and see if it's a suitable replacement for your system.

Thanks Peter, I is exactly the same dimensions as the one I have. I also have the same battery box etc. From what I read the Classica is toned specifically for Nylon where the Isys plus is generic Acoustic. Not sure how much difference it makes.

          morph Here's the one I got- https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fishman-ISYS-Preamp-Phase-Tuner-for-Acoustic-Guitar/202047127988?hash=item2f0af281b4:g:KQgAAOSw6Q1Zr5Pw

Now under R250, delivered. I have a suspicion that the co-branded items might be the same as the stock Fishman items, or at most, have different capacitor values to adjust the EQ centres slightly. I'm using mine for a guitalele and it sounds ok with nylon strings- the volume is good, and the tone seems ok to me but I'm not all that discerning when it comes to acoustic tone.
